Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart seeks a creative, detail-oriented Communications Specialist to support the school’s marketing and communications efforts. This role is responsible for creating compelling content, maintaining consistent messaging across platforms, and strengthening Duchesne’s brand in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart education. In collaboration with the Head of School and others, the Communications Specialist plays a key role in telling the Duchesne story to internal and external audiences, including students, parents, alumnae, donors, and the broader Houston community.
Primary Responsibilities:
Content Creation & Marketing Support
Execute and adapt design templates to maintain brand consistency across communication channels and digital and print materials.
Write, edit, and proofread content for newsletters, emails, website updates, social media, press releases, and print materials.
Ensure all communications reflect Duchesne’s mission, values, tone, and visual identity.
Assist with marketing campaigns for admissions, fundraising, and special events.
Internal & External Communications
Assist in producing regular communications to parents, faculty, staff, and students.
Support communications related to admissions, advancement, alumnae relations, special events, and critical incidents.
Coordinate with faculty and staff to gather timely and accurate information.
Digital & Social Media Support
Assist with managing Duchesne’s social media accounts, including content creation, scheduling, posting, and engagement.
Coordinate photo and video content creation, including event coverage and campus life highlights.
Support website updates and basic content management tasks.
Administrative & Project Support
Manage the communications budget with impact and efficiency.
Maintain content calendars and assist in managing project timelines.
Organize and archive photos, videos, and communication materials.
Provide logistical and on-site support for school events as needed.
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or related field
1-3 years of experience in a communications, public relations, or marketing role; non-profit or school environment preferred
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
Upon Hiring
Successful completion of criminal offenders’ records information and sexual offender registry checks.
Successful completion of CMG Safe Environment Training.
Current CPR certification.
