Description
The Department of Creative Enterprise Leadership (CEL) in the School of Art at Pratt Institute seeks exceptional applicants for the position of Assistant Chair. In coordination with the Chair, the Assistant Chair will contribute to the daily operations of the Creative Enterprise Leadership department as well as with the development, implementation, and management of the departmental academic affairs for all degree programs in the department. The Assistant Chair acts as advisor to the chair on curriculum and instruction, in addition to other responsibilities and is a key member of the collaborative administrative team and participates in strategic decision-making to set, plan, and operationalize the department's mission as a whole.
The Creative Enterprise Leadership Department is housed in the School of Art. The department currently offers two international graduate degrees: an M.P.S in Design Management and an M.P.S in Arts and Cultural Management. Participants graduate with the strategic leadership skills necessary to align creativity, culture, community, commerce, and caring to design experiences and engagement, and advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).

Examples of Duties
The responsibilities of the Assistant Chair, Advisor on Curriculum and Instruction include:
Serves as Advisor to the Chair for Curriculum and Instruction
Researches, establishes and assists the Department in sustaining internal partnerships with shared curriculum objectives and department research agenda, e.g., with the School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS), Center for Teaching and Learning, etc.
Works with the Chairperson to position the department as a leader in innovative curriculum, digital delivery, international partnerships, and internal Pratt partnerships.
Developing curriculum strategies and guidelines for sustaining external strategic partnerships with G20, UN Initiative, World Economic Forum's Strategic Intelligence Platform.
Works with faculty and Chairperson to review, update and visually map curriculum and learning journey assessment focusing on data collection and visualization.
Works with faculty to integrate new models and methods for risk management with the Chair's guidance;
Works with the curriculum committee to assure UNSDGs are adhered to across courses;
Helps the Chairperson establish curriculum strategies/programs designed to sustain relationships with feeder programs and partner programs in Asia;
Helps the Chairperson establish research initiatives related to department aims and thought leadership. Presents recommendations regarding course design, instruction delivery/technology options; and
Implements, researches, and evaluates online teaching, learning and the new technologies to assist faculty and students in the use of new media for teaching and learning in innovative ways. This includes training and coaching instructors/faculty in their use.
Represents the Chair with committee leaders on curriculum development and digitalization.
In collaboration with the Chair, provides academic leadership, shares messaging across the department, represents the department, and develops department budgets, advises on curriculum, and other educational programs, activities, and collaborations.
Assists Chair in planning course schedules, curricular modifications, content delivery, and faculty assignments and loads.
Assists Chair with recruitment, selection, mentorship, and retention of faculty and staff to support their professional development and engagement with students in the classroom.
Works with alumni to develop a database and alumni mapping to enable the department to build and maintain relationships after graduation
Oversees and manages the admissions process, including reviewing application materials, conducting interviews, preparing letters of acceptance / waitlist / rejection, and determining scholarships.
Advises and registers all students and coach on personal and professional learning journeys
Actively promotes the program through events, media outreach, and presentations.
Co-leads with Chair the planning, development, and execution of department's Study Abroad Program
Establishes and maintains communication with other Institute programs, departments, and offices in support of scheduling and student advisement.
Assists with organizing, scheduling, and promoting seminars, workshops, lectures, and other departmental activities.
Perform all other related activities, as required.
Qualifications
Education: MPS, MBA or MPA.
Skills:

Proven skills in refining and digitizing policies and procedures related to academic excellence and student success.
Experience in print and digital publishing platforms, visual communication design, and/or marketing or Public Relations preferred but not required.
Cultural agility and experience in leading multicultural teams and managing international projects.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a consultative professional setting; advising on methods for refining processes and achieving consistent outcomes.
Experience working in collaborative environments and on academic teams.
Experience in strategy formulation and execution for higher education in a global environment is beneficial.
Must be familiar with UNSDGs and the metrics and methods for auditing and assuring compliance. This would be important to advise the department on STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) related curriculum refinements.
Teaching experience at the graduate level required preferably in a management program.
Credentials in Sustainability Accounting and Reporting, ESG, Social Impact Investing, Climate Risk and Sustainability preferred but not required.
Experience in design, arts and cultural management, and community engagement
