Overview
The School of Professional Studies (SPS) seeks a Human Resources Assistant II to perform a wide range of general office duties including those of a confidential nature. Prioritize office activities and may act as work leader to junior clerical support staff. Respond to inquiries displaying a comprehensive knowledge of University and human resources and payroll policies and procedures. Interact with the general public as NYU/SPS liaison and with University personnel including those at senior level to resolve issues and problems. Prepare and process a variety of human resources and payroll transactions using University systems; monitor payroll processing and tracking of human resources data; initiate special check requests; prepare new hire onboarding and performance review packages, and ensure employee receipt of essential information. Share information about student hiring with SPS departments, post roles and process student hires. Customize and/or compose communications on own initiative or in response to requests for information. Use University HR/recruiting systems, Microsoft Office and Google applications, including databases, to prepare reports, demonstrating intermediate to advanced-level functions. Maintain department calendar, assist with scheduling and supporting department events. Â
Responsibilities
Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Required Experience: 3 years of office experience. Experience providing a high level of customer service.
Preferred Experience: 2 years of related experience in a human resources or payroll department (with Associate's degree). 1 year of related experience in a human resources or payroll department (with Bachelor's degree).
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Proficiency with intermediate to advanced word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. Moderate to fast, accurate keyboarding. Good proofreading and writing skills.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Proficiency with intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office or proficiency with Apple. Knowledge of desktop publishing software. Knowledge of Access.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is USD $39.129. This rate is based on bargaining unit contracts. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
