The Department of Learning and Teaching and USD have a strong commitment to inclusive excellence and to global education. Faculty candidates should be committed to working with diverse students and populations as well as an interest in fostering community engagement at the local, national, and global levels. The Department has developed strong collaborative relationships with local schools and districts to provide an array of practicum, student teaching, and action research sites. In addition, all graduate students are required to participate in at least one global education experience prior to graduation.

Detailed Description: The School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES) at the University of San Diego invites applications for a nine-month, full-time, tenure-track faculty position in STEM Education. The University of San Diego seeks faculty with expertise in STEM education to advance educational equity and social justice, across early childhood, K-12, and higher education. Faculty with expertise in STEM Education strengthen the university's capacity to secure external funding, expand community partnerships, and develop innovative, culturally responsive programs.
The successful candidate will be a scholar-practitioner committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service, with a demonstrated ability to prepare educators to meet the needs of diverse learners. This individual will serve as a lead for STEM education-related curriculum development within the Department of Learning and Teaching, provide leadership in the Single Subject program, and report to the Chair and Associate Chair of the department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will:
Teach undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral-level courses in STEM across early childhood, K- 12, and higher education contexts
Serve as lead for the Single Subjects 7th-12th programs
Integrate equity-centered, culturally responsive, and critical pedagogies into teaching and curriculum design
Develop and maintain an active, sustainable research agenda addressing inclusive education in STEM
Pursue external funding to support research, program development, and community partnerships
Mentor and advise credential candidates, master's students, and doctoral students, fostering academic success, professional growth, and well-being
Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement innovative curricula, programs, and pathways that advance inclusive excellence
Engage in service at the department, school, and university levels
Build and sustain partnerships with schools, community organizations, and professional associations

Degree Verification Requirement: Persons offered employment in this position will be required to provide official education transcripts for degree verification purposes. Job Requirements:
Academic Credentials: Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Education, STEM/STEM Education from an accredited institution (ABD candidates may be considered with evidence of degree completion prior to appointment).
Teaching Credentials and Experience: Valid K-12 teaching credential (preferably in California)
Proven ability to create equitable and inclusive learning environments that honor students' whole selves including their cultural identities, abilities, and diverse lived experiences.
Research and Scholarship: Demonstrated record of scholarly productivity in STEM education
Evidence of potential for continued publication in peer-reviewed outlets
Communication, Leadership, and Mentorship: Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and mentorship skills
Demonstrated leadership abilities within academic or professional settings
Capacity to contribute to institutional governance and shared leadership
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with historically underrepresented or marginalized communities in STEM particularly in science and mathematics
Experience advocating for equity and access for marginalized learners within STEM
Record of professional leadership in organizations or initiatives promoting equity, student wellness, and social justice
Commitment to culturally responsive, evidence-based, and equity-centered pedagogy
Demonstrated interest in and/or record of securing external grants for research, program development, or community initiatives. Posting Salary:

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
