POSITION SUMMARY:
This position reports to the Dean, and works with the Director of Operations, Assistant Dean of Admissions, Assistant Dean of Career Services and Alumni Relations, Assistant Dean for Academic Technology, University Advancement, and the faculty of the School of Law. The successful candidate will be the point-person in marketing and communications and will have primary responsibility for publicizing the accomplishments of, and any programs offered by, the School of Law and its faculty. This person will be responsible for maintaining communication between and among the School of Law, its alumni, faculty, staff, donors, and potential students. Responsible for serving as a point person developing marketing communications materials including advertising, magazines, newsletters, brochures, social media, and web sites, in collaboration with the Department of Communication and Marketing.
Most tasks involve self-direction, creativity, solid communications, organizational skills, and an outstanding work ethic. Must be able to interact well and to take direction from a wide variety of people within the University community. The individual filling this position will use their experience and knowledge of current marketing trends to develop and implement marketing communications activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops and implements marketing and marketing communication projects of varying complexities from concept to completion in partnership with the Department of Marketing and Communications.
Writes, and oversees production of, magazines, brochures, newsletters, fact sheets, advertising copy, social media, web site content, and other marketing communication materials in partnership with the Department of Communications and Marketing.
Acts as project manager and liaison between Law School and the Department of Marketing and Communication when appropriate
Maintains and updates electronic media sites, including the Law School’s web page, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn pages.
Supports the people responsible for the development and delivery of programming for Continuing Legal Education, including advertising, marketing (both mailings and electronic media), and communications and related follow-up. Also work with said persons in the creation of a comprehensive calendar for such programs that is appropriate for website posting and the like.
Works with the law school’s Assistant Dean for Academic Technology and other law school personnel responsible for website maintenance and administration regarding appropriate communications.
Completes other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
3-5 years of related marketing, advertising or project management experience.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in higher education or legal field.
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Ability to develop and implement marketing strategies and to meet deadlines.
Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
Experience and comfort level with databases and systems, and excellent computer skills (MS Office)
The ability to maintain and develop Law School website: strong writing skills for print, web site, broadcast, and other marketing tools
The ability to work with the media, journalists, etc. Knowledge and experience with project management and knowledge of current marketing trends
Willingness and ability to travel as appropriate; willingness to work weekends; integrity and high ethical standards
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University Community
