Under general direction from the Senior Director of Transformational Health, the Operational Effectiveness Manager will be responsible for strategic coordination of operational improvement initiatives, targeted at enabling and accelerating collaboration to identify, prioritize, implement, and share best practices in alignment with the UC San Diego Health Strategic Plan. More broadly, this position is responsible for supporting a culture of continuous operational innovation, inclusive of traditional concepts like continuous improvement, lean six sigma, and operational excellence, as well as conceiving and implementing new innovation frameworks that enable and accelerate the operations towards the achievement of the strategic plan goals.
This position provides support to various initiatives that lead to operational efficiencies and cost savings enterprise-wide, as well as support the organization's ability to accomplish transformational initiatives in healthcare. Incumbent will be responsible for identifying and evaluating opportunities, plan and implement solutions, and track and measure success with regards to the most critical short term and long term organizational, business, and financial issues facing the organization.
The incumbent serves as a coach for innovation and engagement processes and strategically administers the tools required to support these efforts through feasibility and eventually implementation. Much of the efforts put-forth by the Operational Effectiveness Manager will be in support of the Strategic Plan. The analysis, recommendations and program management/oversight that will be performed is highly complex and requires a wide range of knowledge regarding business and organizational management as well as an extensive knowledge of UC San Diego Health's administrative organizations, departments, policies, procedures, processes and practices. The position will be required to establish and maintain strong and effective relationships across the enterprise.
Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training in Governance management, Daily Management System Administration, Executive Affairs, Organizational Communications, Administrative Process Optimization OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus three (3) years of related experience/training in Governance management, Daily Management System Administration, Executive Affairs, Organizational Communications, Administrative Process Optimization.
Experience and proven success in organizational development and effectiveness field, theories, models to assess, design and implement customized organizational interventions
Highly proficient in Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Vizio or LucidChart.
Lean Six Sigma Training – including process mapping, chartering, developing standard work.
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
