Job Overview
Situated at the intersection of healthcare, research and education, the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine seeks applicants for the new position of Director of Value and Engagement Strategy. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the director is a key leader in the future of internal and external marketing and communications. The Director will play a vital role in increasing awareness, driving engagement, and fostering loyalty and love for the college, university, and academic health center. This includes articulating the value proposition for college programs, developing the brand strategy and marketing approach, managing internal communications and public relations, and working with cross-functional teams to execute on the strategies developed. The Director will be a manager by influence, requiring strong skills in developing mutually productive and collaborative working relationships with peers across the system, including UC Marketing + Communications, UC Health Marketing & Communications, UC Foundation, the UC Colleges of Nursing, Pharmacy, and Allied Health Sciences, and the myriad staff responsible for marketing and outreach across the academic health center.
The Director may manage or have oversight of the budget and expenditures for the functional areas assigned and provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
Essential Functions
Develop and implement a comprehensive story-led college integrated marketing strategy that aligns with system-wide goals and objectives and creates meaningful interactions with students, faculty, staff, physicians, patients, donors and the public.
Lead strategic working sessions among UC and UC Health stakeholders to create ground-breaking content that tell the college?s story and cultivate positive, productive relationships with media, public officials, community members and other thought leaders who shape public discourse about healthcare, higher education and innovation.
Guide the creation of tailored, meaningful content, campaigns and media solutions that bring the college?s value proposition and goals to life with consistency and that drive engagement across all touchpoints and audiences.
In cooperation with public relations teams, manage strategic coordination of interest in the college, inclusive of earned media interest, positioning UC in high profile media spaces, pitching stories that exemplify UC excellence and preeminence, alongside day-to-day management of response to media requests.
Serve as a strategic partner and communications strategist to the dean, executive vice dean, chief of staff, and senior associate deans and provide writing support for papers, presentations, memoranda, announcements, slide decks, talking points and other executive communications.
Provide project management and event support on major college projects, such as the White Coat Ceremony, Drake Medal Dinner and Honors Day.
In alignment with strategic priorities, identify KPIs and measure the success of marketing, communications, public and community relations strategies for CQI.
Stay abreast of technological advances in the field and recommend alternate approaches to defining value proposition and driving engagement.
Required Education
Bachelor's Degree.
Required Experience
Seven (7) years of relevant experience.
Supervision experience.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
