Classification Summary: This class is the third level in the Student Services Series. Incumbents provide leadership for assigned student services team/unit, facilitate processes, and assist with institution-wide compliance. Responsibilities may include overseeing assigned student services area and coordinating intervention strategies; facilitating informal hearings and providing sanctions to students; resolving student complaints; meeting with students with special needs to determine necessary accommodations; maintaining and recording accurate student statistics in reference to appropriate policies and procedures; monitoring program compliance in accordance with laws and regulations; and managing a program budget.
Minimum Education and/or Training and Experience: Bachelor's degree in related field, and three to five years of relevant work experience.

Classification Duties:
Provide professional support to students, alumni, and community members in employment, behavior concerns, disabilities support, or other assigned area(s). (C4)
Collect and interpret student statistics and reports of assigned area(s) (academic, disability, behavioral concerns, etc.) by determining data collections methods, interpretation methods, reporting methods, and communication methods. (C4)
Communicate with faculty members to support respective department goals, including providing resources and assistance; assist with employee development; and develop internship and job opportunities. (C4)
Develop and maintain relationships with external partners to identify, define, and create opportunities and resources for students. (C4)
Prepare and distribute resources to students, alumni, and community members; regularly review resources to ensure information remains current and accessible. (B2)
Oversee the daily operation of assigned Student Services area(s) by determining daily tasks and delegating appropriate responsibilities. (B2)
Plan and facilitate all aspects of events, workshops, and/or hearings. (C4)
Maintain knowledge of assigned student service area(s), including industry trends, regulations, and external resources; communicate findings to appropriate stakeholders. (B2)
Meet with students, boards, and groups to discuss and/or identify current/potential issues to include potential resolutions. (C4)
Perform general communication duties such as maintaining college webpages and social media sites with information related to assigned area(s). (B2)
Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.
Position Duties:
Serve as the primary academic advisor for JCA students, including ongoing case management and monitoring of students' academic progress, informing students about their options and the possible consequences/financial aid implications of academic decisions, responding proactively to 'early alerts,' providing information and referrals to students needing services, and maintaining a current working knowledge of all college degree options, support services, general transfer information, and federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs. Academic advising is expected to consume 50% of the Coordinator's workload. (C4)
Make decisions in the absence of the JCA Director. Supervise the JCA Enrollment Services Assistants and student worker(s), including prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained and following policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. (C4)
Assist with developing the vision and strategic direction for Jefferson College Arnold; regularly evaluate and assess core student support functions to best support the JCA mission. (C4)
Serve as the Care Team point of contact at Arnold and participate in Care Team meetings; assist with behavioral concerns and student conduct as needed at Arnold. (C4)
Provide leadership in the coordination of student services relative to admissions, advising, and financial aid, mirroring a one-stop shop model. Serve as the Student Services liaison to other departments providing services at Arnold. (C4)
In conjunction with the Director of JCA, collaborate with Marketing/Public Relations, Admissions, and Instructional staff to identify additional ways to promote Arnold; host events to promote enrollment, programs, and services. (B2)
Support the Office of Admissions with on-site registration and with the recruitment of students attending northern Jefferson County high schools. (B2)
Utilize a variety of software daily to support student success. (B2)
Help represent Jefferson College Arnold on relevant committees, subcommittees, task forces, and work groups and participate in ongoing professional development to monitor trends, research best practices, and remain current with technology. (B2)
Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.
