The Department of Epidemiology at the University of Iowa College of Public Health is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral scholar in cancer epidemiology.

Eligibility • PhD in epidemiology, or a related field • Experience conducting cancer epidemiology/surveillance research • Strong data analysis skills, including experience with statistical software (SAS, R) • Strong communication skills, both written and oral • Experience publishing first authored, peer-reviewed manuscripts
Responsibilities • Perform cancer surveillance and epidemiologic research • Assess the patterns and trends of cancer in Iowa using Iowa Cancer Registry data and other sources • Collaborate with biostatisticians on modeling initiatives to identify drivers of cancer trends in Iowa • Present research findings at national, regional and local meetings of scientific and cancer control organizations • Disseminate research findings to the general public • Maintain Iowa Cancer Registry-based data tools and provide guidance to research collaborators on use of the tools • Contribute to funding applications • Develop first-authored and co-authored manuscripts and presentations

Position description The department of Epidemiology in the University of Iowa College of Public Health seeks a highly qualified and motivated scholar to join a research program in the areas of cancer prevention and control. The initial appointment is a full-time postdoctoral research scholar position for two years.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with faculty, staff, and students within the College of Public Health, the Iowa Cancer Registry, and the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, as well as several other colleges, departments, and centers around the university. A specific plan of research and mentorship will be defined for the successful applicant based on their interests and capabilities, and mentorship includes an advisor with successful research experience and a track record of research funding.
This position is available beginning July 1, 2025.
