About the Role

As Public Relations Manager, you will be the voice and face of REMC: leading strategic communication initiatives, cultivating media relationships, and managing high-profile public events. You'll work across departments to deliver clear, consistent, and engaging messaging that reflects our values and amplifies our mission. Whether you're crafting a compelling story, responding to media inquiries, or organizing a community outreach program, no two days are the same.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as REMC's spokesperson and primary media contact.

• Plan and implement public relations campaigns and community outreach initiatives.

• Create high-quality content for newsletters, press releases, videos, graphics, and social media.

• Manage vendor relationships and ensure brand consistency across platforms.

• Lead efforts for our youth programs, charitable campaigns, and civic engagement.

• Organize and emcee community events and represent REMC at local functions.

• Collaborate with internal departments to align messaging and strategic goals.

• Support emergency communications and real-time media responses during outages or weather events.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.

• 10+ years of relevant experience preferred-especially in media relations, community engagement, or electric utility environments is preferred.

• Strong writing, editing, and public speaking skills.

• Proficiency in digital media tools, video production, and graphic design software is preferred.

• Outgoing personality with the ability to connect and build relationships.

• Willingness to travel locally and attend events beyond regular hours when needed.

• A team player with creative energy and strategic thinking.
