The purpose of the Assistant Employment Manager is to support and assist the Employment Manager along with the recruitment team in the full-cycle recruitment process. This role will also provide support as needed in the functional areas of human resources, which may include (but is not limited to): employee relations and consultations; policy and guideline development; compensation and benefits; compliance; and general employment law.
Compensation:
The expected starting salary range for this position is between $66,700 and $68,900. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain ongoing relationships with hiring managers to understand their recruitment needs; advise hiring managers on workforce planning where possible.
Experience developing a working knowledge of diverse campus roles and functions to best assist hiring managers with creating/reviewing job descriptions and identifying top candidates during the recruitment process.
Create and promote a diversity talent acquisition and retention strategy for staff positions.
Identify and incorporate best practices into our hiring process to promote workplace equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Provide counsel and expertise in all areas of recruitment and staffing; develop and review diversity plan with focused recruitment strategies; influence strategic staffing decisions, including recruitment and selection, planning, training, and career development.
Support hiring managers by recruiting well-qualified candidates and assisting in the selection process by assessing candidates, screening, interviewing, and recommending finalists.
Provide consultation to hiring managers on various human resource issues, including orientation, benefits, compensation, payroll, and employment policies.
Train managers on the recruitment processes, interviewing techniques, identifying and addressing bias and barriers for diverse applicants in the hiring process, and legal issues in recruitment.
Coordinate policy development and advise, assist, and follow up on interpreting college policies, procedures, guidelines, and documentation to employees and supervisors.
Assist the Employment Manager to support the recruitment and onboarding tools in Workday.
Provide assistance to the Human Resources team in employee relations and consultations; policy and guideline development; compensation and benefits; compliance; general employment law; or other areas as requested.
Provide continual process improvement recommendations to the Employment Manager and Human Resources team for implementation.
Maintain confidentiality concerning personnel issues, actions, plans, and processes.

Describe Supervision Received and Exercised:
This role will report directly to the Employment Manager.
Although this role does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities, this role may assist the Employment Manager with others on the recruitment team and the Student Worker Supervisor with student workers.
Education/Experience/Skills:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree with three or more years of experience in Human Resource management or related generalist roles.
Strong understanding of a full-cycle recruitment process
Demonstrated ability to utilize software to develop reports and dashboards across a variety of Human Resources and Recruitment related topics.
Ability to self-manage and possess intuitive, strategic, and organized project management skills.
Experience developing and vetting appropriate sourcing channels and deepen recruitment talent pools.
Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and reporting requirements.
Proficient technical skills, especially in the areas of integrated database and HRIS programs, spreadsheets, and applicant tracking systems.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, including successfully establishing rapport and maintaining effective, clear, concise communication with employees.
Good presentation and writing skills are required.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team and committee environment.
Preferred:
Prior work and/or recruitment experience in higher education.
Experience with Workday.
Must have the ability to understand and follow written and oral work instructions, operations, safety procedures, and hazardous labels.
