The University of Southern Indiana’s Undergraduate Admission office seeks applications for an Admission Counselor to provide information and counsel to prospective and newly admitted students concerning policies and procedures as well as evaluating the students’ educational and career goals. In addition, counselors will assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and recruitment program designed to meet enrollment objectives and budgetary goals within assigned territory.

Duties/Responsibilities

Implement a comprehensive recruitment plan in the assigned territory. Activities may include but are not limited to high school visitation, community college visitation, college fair participation, and personalized communication (telephone and email).

Review applications and credentials for admission to the College.

Interview and counsel prospective students and their families regarding admission policies and procedures.

Establish and regularly monitor measurable goals and objectives.

Counsel students and parents through the decision-making process including academic major choice, co-curricular activities, housing, financial aid, scholarship opportunities, and on-campus participation in traditional events.

Required Knowledge and Skills

Bachelor’s degree.

Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in both a counseling and public relations capacity with prospective students and the community.

Ability to think critically and solve complex problems.
