The French American School of Puget Sound seeks a talented, versatile technology teacher willing to lead students and teachers in developing coding and STEM skills in Grades PreK-5 and teaching design, information technology, and STEM in Grades 6-8.
Job Summary:
The French American School of Puget Sound is a bilingual French and English school in Mercer Island, WA, serving Young Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8 students.? The school’s program prepares students for college-preparatory private and public schools locally and abroad and meets the requirements of the French National Curriculum. The technology curriculum at FASPS is based on the French National Curriculum and international best practices for the teaching of design, engineering, and coding.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):?Teaching:
Able to teach skills and concepts effectively across the K-8 grade levels.
Willing to follow the school’s current technology scope and sequence
Administration of research-based changes that can be implemented and will support the school’s mission
Coordinate instruction and engage in co-teaching with other teachers in the school as appropriate
Model-to-teach lower school teachers and teach coding, design, and/or STEM skills in lower school
Knowledgeable in using software such as CoPilot, ChatGPT, SketchUp, 3-D Modeling, Robotics, Scratch, and other appropriate materials.
Provide instruction on how to use tools, materials, and equipment properly, ensuring safe and ethical use.
Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.
Other tasks as assigned by Administration.
REQUIREMENTS:
Required language: The ideal candidate is bilingual in French and English. A culturally agile French or English speaker will be considered. The ability to pass a background check is required. French secondary certification is necessary if not a US Citizen. A minimum of 3 to 5 years working in Technology within varied settings is needed. Applicants should have some Middle School teaching experience, a desire to be part of an internationally diverse community of teachers and learners, and a willingness to adapt to the unique program at FASPS. Successful candidates will be passionate about working with students, know current educational practices and strategies, and be able to use flexible and innovative pedagogical techniques appropriate to a variety of learning styles. Respect and promotion of bilingual education are required.
