Under general supervision of the Associate Athletics Director for Communications and in conjunction with the goals and vision of the Director of Athletics, this position supports an athletics communications program that successfully promotes Northeastern student-athletes, coaches and athletics in all appropriate venues and that increases both public participation in local, state and national recognition of Northeastern athletics.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, broadcasting, journalism, advertising, event management or closely related field required; master's degree in a related field preferred.
2-4 years of experience as a student assistant, graduate assistant or professional required, in athletic communications, communications, marketing, public relations, alumni relations or broadcasting.
Experience in public relations and/or marketing is strongly preferred.
Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and understanding of and follows all applicable NCAA, conference and University rules and regulations.
Responsibilities Include:
Public and Media Relations- Will serve as the primary media contact for designated teams to promote Northeastern athletes, coaches and sports through a variety of media, advertising, promotional, public relations and marketing strategies.
Sports Coverage and Game Management- Oversees game management, including setup, statistical reporting to meet NCAA and conference requirements, and organization and coordination of press box and media area activities.
Online Media Presence- Monitors and updates the NUHuskies.com website with timely and accurate information, including game accounts, features, announcements and news. Effectively uses social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, to promote Northeastern athletics.
Collaboration- Works with ticket office staff to promote ticket sales, special events and promotions. Supports the external affairs department in implementing marketing strategies. Collaborates with the video office on feature stories, content creation and broadcast preparation.
