Job Summary: The LPN facilitates quality patient care within the scope of licensure.

Additional Department Summary: This is a 9-month position (August-May), and will be assigned to the Student Health Center.

Partners with the other clinical staff and providers to ensure medical students, residents and other learners academic and clinical experience prepares them to succeed in their post education endeavors. Works with the enterprise services division of the college, including Health Informatics, Medical Billing, Medical Records and others to ensure patient billing and documentation are complete and accurate and follow all HIPPA and other regulatory requirements.

Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Alabama in good standing. Must have a current CPR certification and have used an electronic health record system in a previous learning or employed role.

Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.

Skills and Knowledge: Ability to perform patient care as directed by a physician, nurse practitioner or other qualified medical professional. Efficient and accurate computer and data entry skills. Excellent communication, public relations and customer service and telephone etiquette skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast paced work environment. Desire to exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy and tact in patient/staff interactions. Willingness to learn and consistently deliver patient centered high quality customer friendly service. Understanding of the need for strict confidentially of protected health information and the requirement to follow HIPAA regulations at all times. Punctual and reliable.
