1. Oversees all collection development activities, engages in planning and analysis of collection budgets and formats to meet the wide-ranging research needs of Law Library patrons. 2. Works closely with the Associate Director for Technical Services to maintain and improve quality and efficiency of collection development procedures. Coordinates with the University Library on collection development and collection management issues where appropriate. 3. Leads and participates in selection of books, serials, and digital resources, particularly for United States and general materials. 4. Works closely with the Associate Director for Foreign & International Law in the selection of foreign and international law materials. 5. Coordinates regularly scheduled meetings of the Collection Development Team comprised of selectors and the Associate Director for Technical Services. 6. Oversees gifts and donations and works closely with the Alumni and Development Office, corresponding with donors as needed. 7. Works closely with the Head of Access Services in collection management and collection maintenance operations such as shelving, shifting, and the transfer of materials to the Library Shelving Facility. 8. Oversees special collections operations including archives, rare books, and digital collections. In this regard, supervises the work of the Archivist for Law Collections, and the Rare Book Librarian. 9. Supervises the Associate Director for Scholarly Services and oversees the operations of the scholarly services department, including the faculty liaison program and the Law Archive open access scholarship repository. 10. Oversees the library publications program, including both print and online publications. Works with Yale University Press, other publishers, the Law School Office of Public Affairs Office, outside organizations, and publication authors to produce the Yale Law Library Series in Legal History and Reference and other publication series. 11.Works with non-profit organizations, publishing companies, and Law Library staff to initiate digitization projects based on Law Library collections. Provides guidance to the Managing Director for Digital Collections with respect to identifying and selecting library resources and materials for digitization. 12. Works with the Dean's Office, other Law School offices, faculty, and students on bibliographic and research needs. 13. Assists Reference and Research with bibliographic and research needs and may provide reference desk coverage. 14. Provides specialized research assistance, and instructional services to law faculty, students, staff, and the general public as needed. 15. Serves on Law Library committees and task forces and participates in library-wide planning. 16. Actively engages in professional development activities at the regional, national, and international levels.
