POSITION SUMMARY
The Endodontist will be under general supervision of the Dental Director and will provide dental services to Rolling Hills Clinic patients as permitted by licensure from the State of California. The Dentist will also coordinate relative clinical administration procedures with the Dental Clinic Manager. This position will require you to travel between Rolling Hills Clinic sites to help fill staffing vacancies and/or shortage.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
Provide high quality dental services to Rolling Hills clinic patients.
Keep abreast of new surgical techniques and dental trends including new endodontic treatment options, materials, equipment, and products.
Coordinate and supervise staff functions and duties during patient care.
Provide the Dental Clinic Manager with information of current activities and situations within the Dental Department.
Examine patient’s medical history and converse with them about their symptoms and concerns.
Develop treatment plans that are appropriate for the dental condition being treated.
Comprehend the endodontic treatment process and be able to explain it to patient, and/or parent/guardian.
Answer patient questions and perform procedures considering patient comfort levels including administering anesthetics to assist patients who are unable to tolerate numbing procedures.
Examine, diagnose, and treat a patient’s teeth’s nerve and dental tissue.
Use dental instruments and x-ray equipment including 3D cone beam to ascertain the source of oral pain and discomfort in patients and use that information to provide the best care.
Conduct root canal procedures on patients.
Conduct a variety of endodontic surgeries, including apicoectomies to treat persistent inflammation or infection in the bony area surrounding the tooth’s apex.
Manage dental traumatic injuries.
Maintain teeth that have previously undergone root canal treatment in good condition.
Prepare patients for dental health services and instruct them in appropriate post-dental treatment, diet, medication, and oral hygiene.
Utilize cutting-edge endodontic tools and technology in the performance of job duties including knowledge and skill to operate endo-microscope and 3D cone beam unit for treatments.
Maintain comprehensive records of each patient’s diagnosis, treatment, and progress. Maintain good understanding of the EHR/EDR; be able to complete referrals, medication refill requests, telephone encounters and EHR tasks in a timely matter.
Actively participate in meetings as assigned by department director.
Maintain positive public relations with patients, guests and staff.
Work well in a team environment, collaborating with all the dental providers and other healthcare professionals on patient care, and communicating effectively with patients, clients, staff members, and coworkers.

Must maintain compliance with ergonomic safety standards; be mindful of posture and regularly practice ergonomic stretches.

SCOPE OF WORK
Be able to see a minimum of 12 patients per day, and complete accurate documentation of visit into the electronic dental record (EDR) system by the end of scheduled shift.
Work as a dental team assisting other providers in completing their responsibilities as necessary, e.g., seeing members, processing refills, clearing member approval queue, and provider inbox.
Manage members with behavioral problems or handicapping conditions.
Ensure completion of medication refills for dental procedures before member is dismissed from visit.
Maintain requirements of licensure, DEA certification and board certification if hired as board certified.
Fulfill and maintain requirements for credentialing, privileging internally and externally with payers and regulatory bodies.
Provide comprehensive, high quality dental services to members, regardless of age, sex, gender identification, income, national origin or language.
Consider individuals’ cultural, psychological, social and environmental factors in creating treatment/care plans.
Participate in training of other dental personnel as requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a Diploma from accredited School of Dentistry and valid license to practice dentistry as a dentist in California.
A current DEA Controlled Substance registration.
Certification through the American Board of Endodontists preferred.
New dental school graduates will be considered.
A current CPR certification.
A valid California driver’s license and proof of personal automobile insurance.
Excellent communication and written skills.
Excellent listening skills. Ability to listen carefully and pay attention when patients describe their problems to be able to ask the appropriate questions and formulate effective solutions.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Ability to work well under pressure, analyze and evaluate individual member’s needs, reach sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations for patient-specific treatment plans.
Must be detail oriented and be able to multi-task effectively. Ability to pay close attention to minute details in the teeth and gums to make an accurate diagnosis. Due to the small size and refinement of dental equipment, you must be able to concentrate and use precision during treatments.
Ability to work with small tools in a small space. You must be capable of manipulating and controlling the equipment.
Demonstrate clear knowledge of Rolling Hills Clinic structure, standards, procedures and protocols.
Must have ability to relate and communicate effectively with community interest groups, agencies, and medical facilities that serve the American Indian Community.
LOAN REPAYMENT PROGRAM
Rolling Hills Clinic is a National Health Service Corp (NHSC) approved site where primary care physicians who are eligible for loan repayment funding can fulfill their service obligation. Rolling Hills Clinic is an Indian Health Program site for Indian Health Services (IHS) Loan Repayment Program.
BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIREMENTS
Pre-employment Drug Testing and a Department of Justice Fingerprinting clearance through Federal, State and Child Abuse Index is a contingency for an offer of employment. Criminal clearances are obtained to protect the welfare and safety of clients receiving services at Rolling Hills Clinic.
VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS
A pre-employment Physical exam is required upon hire. You will be required to provide vaccination records to show proof of immunity for TB or PPD, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, TDAP & Hep B. If the records are more than 10 years old, titers are required to confirm immunity.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a health clinic setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Will work with blood-borne pathogens and will require OSHA training. This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, and fax machines.
