Overview This position is budgeted for $16.85 per hour and is non-negotiable.
The mission of SDSU Global Campus is to provide self-support education and training to enhance careers and transform lives and organizations. SDSU Global Campus serves as the principal University liaison with the greater San Diego community and provides a wide variety of traditional and nontraditional, credit and noncredit educational experiences designed to fit the lifestyle and expectations of working adults and other lifelong learners. In addition, SDSU Global Campus provides a range of academic special programs for individuals and groups at various times, in various locations, and via various modalities throughout the year. The American Language Institute (ALI) provides language training to international students, teacher training for adults, and programs that allow international students to attend credit courses at SDSU. The marketing department is responsible for all marketing efforts to support SDSU Global Campus and the ALI, including publications, advertising, research, public relations, media relations, developing strategic marketing plans, photography and video, website maintenance and enhancement, database development, social media marketing, and other marketing-related functions as needed.
Responsibilities Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Marketing, and more specifically the Content/SEO/Communications Manager, this position supports Marketing to ensure content and communications are aligned with the overarching marketing goals of SDSU Global Campus. This position carries a medium level of responsibility with regard to the information available to him/her; therefore, the candidate's success is contingent upon his/her ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality at all times.
The Student Assistant is responsible for independently performing numerous and varied day-to-day project activities:
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT (95%)
Excellent writing and editing skills and knowledge of AP Style are assumed
Ability to research, interview, and gather information from a variety of sources and condense it in a meaningful way according to the target audience.
Ability to work well with a wide variety of individuals at all levels of interests and responsibilities, and to work both independently and as a member of the team.
This is a fast-paced environment; you will have a variety of products for your portfolio at the end of this assignment.

Qualifications Knowledge & Abilities
Ability to research and write blog articles (500 words or more) on a consistent basis.
Ability to draft and manage social media posts
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure with a high degree of accuracy.
Knowledge and proficiency using Google Suite, MS Word, Excel, and Internet application systems
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within the University, Department, and SDSU Research Foundation and with officials from external agencies. Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and written and possess strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to review data for accuracy and completeness and make correcting entries.
Ability to interact effectively with co-workers.
Ability to understand and follow posted work rules and procedures
Ability to demonstrate traits of a highly motivated self-starter, with a high energy level.
Ability to demonstrate a high level of cross-cultural sensitivity.
Minimum Education & Experience
Current enrollment as an undergraduate student at SDSU
Education is based on the particular knowledge, ability or expertise needed.
Experience focusing on the particular area or specialty for which the service is required
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
Equivalent to two years of responsible office experience, which provides the above knowledge and abilities.
Current SDSU student with the equivalent preferably in communications or journalism majors.
