The Assistant Dean for the Fraternity & Sorority Commons will assist the Associate Dean for Fraternity & Sorority Commons (FSC) in creating and sustaining the vision for the fraternity and sorority community as an integral part of the Student Experience. The Assistant Dean will have a shared responsibility in working with and supporting fraternity/sorority organizations in their living, meeting, and programming spaces.
The Assistant Dean will assist the Associate Dean in the creation of sustainable, inclusive, and developmentally rich programs, and aid in matters related to community risk and liability management
In addition, the incumbent will support the Associate Dean in all health and safety initiatives for both on/off campus properties. The Assistant Dean will work with community partners on diversity, equity and inclusion education, large scale community philanthropic initiatives, and work to support various programming and educational workshops.
The Assistant Dean will also work to develop and implement effective public relations and marketing strategies to support community/council awareness. The Assistant Dean will support student staff, and provide advisement for up to two councils, and share coaching responsibilities for a grouping of designated organizations.
Expected pay: $51,500 + Rensselaer provided housing/utilities + full benefits

This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting and cannot be exceeded.
Shift: This position serves irregular hours and on-call to meet residential student needs, requiring the ability to travel to on-campus and off-campus locations within the Capital District.
Driving: Requires driving a personal vehicle for non-passenger use

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline
Two (2) years’ of experience in a closely related Student Affairs role, including the following:
Demonstrated experience advising and counseling students
Demonstrated experience responding appropriately to student concerns and manage student issues
Ability to travel to on-campus and off-campus locations within the Capital District as a requirement of on-call duties
Preferred:
Masters Degree in student personnel, higher education administration, or related area
Valid US Driver license
Preference given to those with experience working directly with fraternity & sorority organizations
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of fraternity/sorority systems, national and regional trends, policies, procedures, governance, organizational development and recruitment processes
Ability to exercise good judgment and the ability to remain unbiased and impartial in dealing with fraternity and sorority issues
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to analyze and interpret data
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Ability to work in fast paced, rapidly changing environment
Demonstrated problem solving and project management skills
