The Experiential & Undergraduate Program Coordinatorâ™s (the Coordinator) primary responsibilities are to provide program support for judicial externships and other supervised field placements, undergraduate courses offered by the Law School, and mock trial/moot court competition teams. The Coordinator will also work closely with the Administrator of Experiential Education (the Administrator) and the faculty directors of experiential education programs to provide administrative and program support for other experiential education programs as needed. The Coordinator will have the opportunity to lead a diverse and varied portfolio of tasks and responsibilities in support of experiential educational programming and undergraduate courses. The Coordinator will work closely and collaboratively with multiple administrators and directors of Law School programs. The Coordinator will interact frequently and directly with students, faculty (permanent and adjunct), and staff to further an environment of equity and inclusion.
This position is primarily in person and requires occasional attendance at on-campus events during and outside normal business hours. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience with a range of $24.04/hr - $31.25/hr ($50,000-$65,000).
Manage Program Support for Judicial Externships and Other Supervised Field Placements - 30%
In partnership with the faculty instructor, provide program support for the Judicial Externship course, offered each semester, including connecting students with judges.
Support participation by judges in the course, including communication, leading postings, handling memoranda of understanding, evaluations, and responding to questions from judges.
Support student enrollment in the course, including leading and promoting the application process and responding to student questions.
Support course needs, including program support for orientations and midterm discussions.
Collaborate with the Career Center and its Judicial Clerkship Advisor on judge contact information, hiring preferences, postings, and promoting judicial clerkship support.
Perform similar functions for other supervised field placement courses in partnership with the Administrator and faculty instructors.
Manage Program Support for Undergraduate Law Classes - 30%
Support law faculty members instructing undergraduate courses offered by the Law School, including communicating with undergraduates about enrollment or course questions and supporting exam administration, course administration, and disability accommodations.
Assist faculty with the preparation of course materials, development of course websites, exam administration and proctoring, grading, grade submission, coordination with Teaching Assistants, syllabus preparation, and other tasks as necessary.
In partnership with the Admissions office, communicate and promote undergraduate program information sessions, including promoting opportunities with the Universityâ™s pre-law programs.
Serve as a resource for undergraduate students who are interested in or enrolled in the Business Law Minor, including connecting students with appropriate University resources.
In partnership with the Admissions office, communicate with enrolled undergraduate students on law school admissions information, curriculum information, and deadlines.
Manage Program Support for Mock Trial and Moot Court Competition Teams - 30%
Act as primary liaison with students. Distribute instruction materials, answer questions, provide internal communications, and direct students to proper resources, programs, faculty and staff.
Advise Assistant Dean/Director on student issues and concerns and liaise with Student Services to address student issues and concerns.
Assist Assistant Dean/Director with the preparation and administration of program budgets, including tracking expenditures, budget projections, commitments, cuts, etc.
Monitor the fiscal status of program accounts, including expenditures and breakdown of costs for the programs.
Complete all finance paperwork for programs, including travel reimbursements, PCard purchases, check requests, etc.
Assist directors and students in making travel arrangements associated with competition experiences outside the Twin Cities.
Program Support for Other Experiential Education Programs â“ 10%
Under the direction of the Administrator, provide program and administrative support for other experiential education programs at the Law School, including addressing finance and human resources issues, assisting in the development of course materials and schedules, coordinating exercises involving simulation actors, serving as a liaison and resource for adjunct professors, student instructors, and extern/field placement supervisors, collecting and analyzing data, and providing additional support on an as-needed basis.
Required:
BA/BS or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years.
Experience as an established collaborator in the workplace, within the immediate department and the larger institution.
Showed ability to provide outstanding customer service in a high-traffic, public-facing position.
Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and intercultural communication skills, as well as strong project management and organizational skills while maintaining confidentiality when required.
Proven ability to take initiative to solve problems independently and proactively.Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google applications; ability to quickly learn new technology and systems.
Preferred:
Two yearsâ™ experience, ideally in project management.
Experience in event planning or program management.
Desire to participate in and promote process improvement.
