The Department of Epidemiology at the Mailman School of Public Health is recruiting a full-time Associate Research Scientist to contribute to several ongoing observational and intervention studies assessing risk and protective factors for firearm violence and its prevention, treatment, and understanding. Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Associate Research Scientist will provide expertise in applicable public health disciplines to analyze and interpret scientific data contained within information systems and databases related to public health, with a particular focus on firearm violence prevention. Key responsibilities will include: develop their own independent, funded research program in firearm violence prevention; analyze data for reports, presentations, and publications related to firearm violence prevention and related public health issues; develop tables and present understandable data output to multidisciplinary staff and grantees; provide oversight of data quality assurance and control; conduct extensive data analysis to inform public health strategies and interventions for firearm violence prevention; lead manuscript development, ensuring the integration of research findings into scientific literature; develop and implement research proposals focused on firearm violence prevention and related public health issues; prepare and present findings at conferences and meetings, effectively communicating research outcomes to diverse audiences; provide written reports as needed, summarizing research findings and recommendations; perform other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator.

Minimum Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in public health research, particularly for firearm violence prevention.
- Proficiency in statistical software and data analysis techniques.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
- Experience in developing and implementing research proposals and protocols.
- Proven track record of contributing to peer-reviewed publications.
- Full background check required prior to final offer of employment.
Computer proficiency with excellent data management and data analysis skills are required as is extensive experience with SAS, R, Stata, and/or Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
A PhD in Biostatics, Epidemiology, or related field preferred.
