The Howard Payne Athletic Communications office is accepting applications for a graduate assistant for the 2024-25 and may be extended to a second year (one to two-year appointment). The graduate assistant will assist with media and public relations efforts for the University’s 12 intercollegiate varsity sports. Located in Brownwood, Texas, Howard Payne is a member of NCAA Division III and the American Southwest Conference.
Responsibilities: -Serve as primary media contact for assigned sports. -Organize and record game statistics at athletic events and provide timely reporting of results to media outlets. -Produce weekly game notes, generate game programs and media guides, write game recaps, submit player-award nominations and handle other day-to-day duties as assigned. -Manage media area for assigned sports at home events. -Generate multimedia content for HPUsports.com and post in timely manner. -Assist in the management of student and game staff workers. -Adhere to all NCAA and American Southwest Conference rules and regulations.
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, physical education, kinesiology, sport management or related fields.
Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
Computer skills InDesign, Photoshop, SIDEARM (CMS), NCAA Live Stats, and Statcrew software.
Availability to work evenings and weekends.
