Responsible for the development and implementation of a strategic recruitment plan in a territory designated by the Senior Associate Director and reports information regarding budgetary impact and enrollment for the territory. The Admissions Counselor presents information sessions on behalf of East Carolina University to schools, college fairs, and other special events. In addition, they counsel prospective students and their families on the educational opportunities at ECU, admission criteria, scholarship programs, and student services within the university. They assist in the development and maintenance of the office's communication plan for prospective and admitted students. They evaluate applications and participate in recruitment activities. Freshman Admission Counselors participate in regular professional development and training initiatives related to TargetX and Banner. Last, the Freshman Admission Counselor represents the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at University meetings and committees where appropriate. Other duties as assigned.

· Establish and maintain contact with each of the schools in assigned territory
· Collaborate with school counselors/advisors for student events
· Maintain student contact/communication throughout the entire admissions cycle
· Utilize both virtual and in-person recruitment strategies

· Serve on-call/email to support prospective students

The Undergraduate Admissions Office is responsible for identifying, attracting and enrolling students in sufficient numbers to meet the University's enrollment projections while improving the quality of the student population. The office processes approximately 26,000 applications yearly, including freshmen, transfers, readmits, visitors and non-degree adult learners. In order to develop an applicant relationship with these individuals, the office is involved in many public relations activities which generate over 100,000 inquiries for additional information and for applications.
The Admissions Office's activities are performed by a staff which includes a substantial operations/processing staff, receptionists/secretaries, as well as counselors, assistant directors, associate directors, senior associate directors, and director.
