DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences Advancement (AVC-HSA) with working directions from the Executive Director of Development, Sanford Stem Cell Institute (EDOD-SSCI), the Senior Director of Development, Sanford Stem Cell Institute (SDOD-SSCI) is responsible for working on strategies that include major, principle and transformational gift pipeline, and leading a portfolio reflective of such scope and scale. The position will work closely with the AVC-HSA in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of key donors associated with the Institute. The position will also work closely with both the EDOD-SSCI and AVC-HSA on building out a comprehensive strategy for the Institute and its associated Centers, with focus on location, national, and international pipeline.
The SDOD-SSCI will bring expertise in working with health and science related philanthropy. The incumbent will build strong relationships, supporting the institute faculty leadership as well as working closely with the appointed center directors and affiliated faculty. The position will work as a senior member of the institute's leadership and provide support for the Sanford Institute Executive Board. The position will also collaborate and partner with the core administrative support team in alignment with the Sanford Institute.

QUALIFICATIONS
Proven success as a development officer in a highly sophisticated donor-centered fundraising environment as a direct-line fundraiser.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in an academic environment.
Demonstrated success at raising major gifts by developing and implementing cultivation and solicitation plans for gifts of $250,000+ from individuals, corporations, and foundations, both local and national.
Expert working knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques.
Expert knowledge of all aspects of the location, including current issues of concern for both the campus and / or throughout higher education / healthcare, generally. Expert knowledge of the location, including its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure.
Expert organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills, written and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen and expert project / program management skills to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies. Expert skills in making persuasive and compelling presentations of goals and objectives for a location in order to secure gifts.
Proven experience in the full spectrum of development including: gift policies, solicitations, stewardship, donor recognition, high level boards, support groups and administration.
Proven record of writing proposals for significant projects, gifts (250,000+) directed to individuals, foundations, and corporations.
Demonstrated knowledge in the technique of donor prospect research with the ability to extract the pertinent/critical information from various sources.
Demonstrated understanding of the philosophy of quality service and group process, with proven aptitude for working as part of a team. Demonstrated competency and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
Experience in developing budgets and using financial information for comprehensive budgetary reports. Experience projecting budgetary needs.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $87,000 - $202,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $41.67 - $97.03
