Adel Design Research (ADR) Laboratory invites applicants for a full-time Research Associate position to join our team at Princeton University. Candidates will work with Dr. Arash Adel (Assistant Professor, School of Architecture) and other members of the ADR Laboratory on interdisciplinary research and design projects, exhibitions, publications, and full-scale robotically fabricated structures. Our research and design projects involve topics related to construction robotics, automated building assembly, additive manufacturing, human-robot collaboration, and STEM education. Our research interests include topics such as robot learning, computer vision, closed-loop control, process-level digital twin, extended reality (XR), and computational design. The desired start date is Fall 2023. The minimum duration for this position is two years. Job Description We seek to hire an outstanding Research Associate with a strong interest in Computational Design and Robotic Construction. Your responsibilities will include collaborating on research projects; assisting with developing diagrams, simulations, documentation, and publications; collaborating on the design and construction of exhibitions and full-scale structures; and assisting with administrative tasks. Qualifications Required qualification: Master's degree in Architecture, and/or related fields (e.g., Master of Science, etc.) Experience with research and publications related to the job description Strong communication skills Strong background in Computational Design Good knowledge of the CAD software Rhinoceros 3D, its plugin Grasshopper 3D, and its API RhinoCommon Good knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.) Fluency in English Desired qualifications: Experience with operating industrial robotic arms Excellent programming skills (primarily Python, but C# and C++ also desired) Real-world architecture and/or construction experience Experience with XR research and development within the context of design and construction Experience with exhibition design and implementation What We Offer We offer a competitive package (salary, health insurance, and benefits).
