Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU), located in Wenzhou, China, one of three Sino-American universities along with NYU Shanghai and Duke Kunshan University, is approved by the Ministry of Education of China. About the Job:
The School of English Studies in the College of Liberal Arts at WKU seeks to fill several lecturer positions to teach various levels of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses.
A Lecturer is a full-time, 11-month employee who teaches 39 credits per year and provides student and learning support services during the assigned period. Lecturers will be expected to provide high quality teaching and student advisement, engage university and/or professional community related service, and perform other related work as required.
Teaching experience with non-native speakers in a foreign country is highly desirable. Teaching assignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, and online courses. Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable.
All faculty positions are full-time assignments, effective for the start of the Spring or Fall 2024 semester. The positions are renewed every three years.
Qualifications:
M.A. or Ph.D. in TESOL, ELT, EAP, or Applied Linguistics is required for EAP lecturer positions. Applications from candidates with certification in EAP/ESL and advanced degrees in English or other fields housed within WKU's College of Liberal Arts will also be considered. Ph.D. is preferred. Prior experience teaching discipline-specific EAP courses is highly desirable. A minimum of two years of teaching or related experience in a college or university setting is preferred. In accordance with Chinese laws, English teachers at the university level must be native English speakers.
Faculty positions at WKU offer:
Annual lecturer salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience with the range from $58,000-$68,000. Salary of extraordinary candidates shall be determined on a case-by-case basis.
