Job Description The Boston University's Center for Antiracist Research (CAR) seeks a highly organized and creative Digital Media Specialist. The successful candidate will bring their social media, website management, and graphics expertise to CAR. The Digital Media Specialist will operate out of the Office of the Director and report directly to the Senior Communications Specialist.
The Candidate will join a close-knit collaborative team committed to antiracist work. Applicants should be detail-oriented and effective communicators.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Social Media
In daily collaboration with the Senior Communications Specialist, this role will design original, high-quality content and manage social media campaigns for CARs digital and social properties
Responsible for working with each office to amplify and promote their individual initiatives, programs, events, and goals
Liaise with the Office of the Director to ensure content is informative and appealing
Maintain a regular presence on social media, including creating regular daily content and responding to online inquiries when appropriate
Provide graphic and design support for special projects
Website Management
Lead the redesign and branding of CARs website and other online properties
Manage all aspects of CARs websites
Proactively monitor websites to find and report issues, and routinely manage the websites to ensure that the most up-to-date information is accessible
Write and implement SEO-rich content for the websites
Public Relations Support
Support the Senior Communications Specialist, producers, and journalists by sitting in on tech-checks, developing media kits, and scouting interview locations for the Office of the Director
Metrics Evaluation
Prepare monthly reports to analyze the impact and engagement of any initiative that is shared on the CARs websites, and social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram

Bachelor's degree in communications, media, journalism, marketing, public relations, business, marketing, the liberal arts, or a related field OR a masters degree in a related disciple with 3-5 years experience
2-3 years of administrative and content creation experience. Detail-oriented and proactive
Knowledge of current events and antiracism
Ability to handle pressure and juggle multiple deadlines
Ability to produce high-quality graphics (Canva and/or Adobe Suite)
Experienced with social media planning platforms (i.e. Sprinklr, Sprout Social)
Experienced in website content management software (Squarespace and Wordpress)
Must have a strong understanding of digital file management
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently to organize multiple tasks and set priorities for action, take initiative, be creative, and operate with self-direction in a fast-paced office environment
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively and work productively in establishing and maintaining professional relationships with an interdisciplinary and diverse team
Serve in confidential capacity with the Director, Chief of Staff, Senior Communications Specialist, and other staff from the Office of the Director
