EASTTENNESSEESTATEUNIVERSITY, DEPARTMENT OF MEDIAANDCOMMUNICATION, invites applications for a 9-month faculty member position specializing in journalism. The candidate will contribute to department graduate and undergraduate programs, and teach courses relevant to journalism and public relations. Community engagement, particularly through service learning in the classroom, is emphasized in the department.
The Department of Media and Communication offers an integrated, cross-platform curriculum including undergraduate and graduate courses with the goal of producing graduates with a broad knowledge of the media and its wide variety of professions. We have a flexible and customizable bachelor's degree, offering student experiences in advertising, film, journalism, public relations, radio, sports media, and TV. We also have a master's degree program in Brand & Media Strategy and a graduate certificate in Film Production.
Depending on the experience and credentials of the candidate, the appointment will be made as a tenure-track assistant professor or a non-tenure-track lecturer.
The Department of Media and Communication expects all successful tenure-track candidates to establish and maintain an active research or creative activity program and participate in service to the department, college, university, and community. Successful lecturer candidates would only be expected to contribute service to the department, college, university, and community. Ideal candidates would be able to contribute at all levels. Tenure-track faculty typically teach a 3:3 load. Lecturers typically teach a 4:4 load.
