Job Summary: | The La Follette School of Public Affairs seeks to hire up to two faculty members in the areas of science and/or technology and public policy.
The school is open with regards to the specific area and approach to science and/or technology research. However, we may be particularly interested in a scholar who focuses on these issues in the United States, as well those candidates with public policy expertise as it pertains to our society's movement toward the increased use of automation, digitization, big data, and other information technology advances, broadly construed. Topics such as cybersecurity, digital currencies, A.I. applications, or the privacy and ethical implications raised by changes in science and/or science or technology policy are particularly encouraged.
The selected candidate will conduct productive research, be a committed teacher, and welcome being part of an interdisciplinary department dedicated to promoting good public policy. Teaching will involve core graduate and undergraduate courses in public affairs or international public affairs, as well as upper-level electives in science and/or technology and public policy.

Responsibilities: | Successful candidates will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and masters/graduate level, lead a scholarly research program, perform university and professional service, interact with the media and public officials, and complete public outreach. Education: | Required PhD in Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, Environmental Studies, Economics, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, Sociology, or a related field. |
Qualifications: | Applicants should demonstrate excellence and productivity in research and a commitment to teaching. Appointment at the tenured level requires evidence of excellence in scholarly research, teaching and service and requires review by the Social Sciences Tenure Committee at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
The successful candidate will demonstrate experience with fostering or the ability to foster an inclusive and equity-centered teaching, learning, departmental, and research environment where all can thrive. |
