A recent departure has provided the Town with the opportunity to seek a new Senior Planner or Planner. Duties include maintaining effective and co-operative liaison with Council members, Town staff, developers, professional consultants, provincial ministries, agencies, ratepayer groups and the general public, in order to participate, assist, project manage and process development approval applications, and conduct land use policy work in an effective and efficient manner. The Senior Planner will also assist in key projects for the department including reviews of the Official Plan, Comprehensive Zoning By-law and Site Plan Guidelines.
1. An undergraduate degree from a recognized land use planning degree program, or a directly related discipline (i.e., Urban Geography) 2. Progressively responsible planning experience in a municipal setting 3. Provisional Membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and the Canadian Institute of Planners (full membership is preferred) 4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and Power Point), and ESRI ArcView or comparable Geographic Information System software 5. Demonstrated superior verbal, presentation and written communication skills 6. Experience dealing with all levels of government, elected officials and the public 7. Superior interpersonal and customer service / public relations
Senior Planner Experience Requirement: Minimum of five (5) of progressively responsible planning experience in a municipal setting.
Planner Experience Requirement: Three (3) to Four (4) years of progressively responsible planning experience in a municipal setting.
