Job Description:
The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, managing, and implementing neighborhood plans and related initiatives. The Coordinator will work with members of the Le Moyne campus community, the local neighborhood, the City of Syracuse, the Town of Dewitt, and other agencies.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Job duties specific to this position:
Develops short and long-range strategies to enhance the quality of life in the Le Moyne neighborhood
Leads and facilitates neighborhood engagement community meetings
Creates and runs an information campaign for neighbors to understand resources available to them and connect them to resources to help them make improvements to their properties (including loan and grant programs, Home Headquarters and property redevelopment, etc)
Creates ways to link the neighborhood with the resources available at Le Moyne for the broader community
Works with the Salt Springs Neighborhood Association to help support and strengthen the neighborhood; attends all meetings
Builds relationships with realtors so that they can speak to the assets and strengths about buying in the neighborhood and to promote owner-occupancy in the neighborhood
Organizes and advertises public meetings and conducts other public outreach/participation efforts associated with planning projects
Plans at least one neighborhood event each year to build community
Administers, seeks, and implements grant programs related to neighborhood planning or improvement
Works with the College to explore the creation of student service opportunities in targeted neighborhoods; work with student leaders to build relationships with community partners
Serves as a liaison for neighborhood planning activities with community members, neighborhood groups, developers, City Boards, Town Boards, etc.
May represent the College at City, Town, or Neighborhood meetings
Attendance at night and weekend meetings may be required
Other related duties may be assigned.

Hourly rate: $18-$25/hr
Requirements:
The candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in a relevant field OR equivalent years of related work experience which may be satisfied through the completion of an internship, or directly related project.
This position requires a detail-oriented self-starter with excellent organizational skills who can get things done efficiently in a high-paced environment.
Candidates must be able to prioritize tasks and be flexible.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, along with the ability to work well independently as well as part of a dynamic team.
Candidates must be able to transport themselves around the city via car, bicycle, bus, or walking to community meetings as needed.
Successful applicants are team players who are passionate about the City of Syracuse and improving the quality of life for all residents. Candidates should be familiar with the city's neighborhoods and be excited to work with diverse populations that may be different from their own.
Demonstrated ability to exercise strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate persuasively and effectively to convey complex information to a wide array of audiences.
