Accountabilities:
In partnership with the Associate Vice President and Campaign Director, the position is responsible for the following:
Managing and mentoring a team focused on identifying, researching, and managing prospects for the University's Advancement efforts – with an emphasis on analyzing and interpreting data to build and understand Colgate's relationships with these prospects.
Coordinating all research for leadership, major, principal, and planned gifts – including establishing priorities and managing research workflow to ensure deadlines are successfully met and align with fundraising goals.
Coordinating with Colgate IT colleagues for data management, reporting, and analysis related to Advancement
Using quantitative analyses to estimate the philanthropic capacity of prospects.
Leveraging prospecting methodologies and utilizing data sources internal and external to Colgate to develop prospect lists for specific fundraising initiatives and priorities.
Using prospecting tools such as data screenings and modeling to identify new prospects, and to provide analyses of targeted groups and the overall prospect pool.
Track and report on the movement of prospects from identification through the solicitation process.
In consultation with Advancement leadership, manage the prospect assignment process and collaborate with the appropriate managers to facilitate assignment of prospects into the appropriate portfolios.
Define and execute tactics designed to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of prospect development by leveraging systems, technology, reporting, and resource allocation.
Reinforce the Division's relationship management guidelines for documenting interactions with prospects and tracking cultivation/solicitation strategies.
Keep procedures and policies current, relevant, and clearly communicated. Create and communicate new procedures as needed. Enhance the Advancement Division's understanding of PMR's work through effective communication and training.
Ensure PMR's work with data adheres to all legal requirements and standards.
Professional Experience/Qualifications:
Five to seven years of related experience in research and/or prospect management for a higher education institution or other non-profit
Highly proficient with Microsoft products including Excel
Proficient with Customer Relationship Management databases
Strong understanding of donor rights and the distinction between public and private information; scrupulous attention to matters of discretion and confidentiality
Knowledge of market trends in research resources, such as electronic wealth-screening services and methodologies, news databases, and business directories
Strong research, analytical, and problem solving skills
Strong ability to communicate orally and in writing
Must be able to work collegially and effectively with a diverse group of alumni, students, faculty, and staff on a daily basis
Aptitude for advanced data analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge, CRM, or NXT
Experience with Tableau
Supervisory experience
Demonstrated advanced data analysis experience
Education:
A Bachelor's degree is required
