The marketing and communications team is part of the Enrollment Management Vice Provost's Office and supports Undergraduate Admissions, Financial Aid and Scholarships, Office of the University Registrar and Analytics. Enrollment Management supports student success by providing student-focused services to prospective and current students, along with their families.
Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Associate Director for Marketing and Communications, Undergraduate Admissions, this position has considerable responsibility for assisting in the development and execution of the UC Davis Undergraduate Admissions marketing and communications program. Duties include researching, writing, editing and producing clear and compelling communications pieces for print and web media; placement and coordination of advertisements and other marketing materials; coordination and management of print collateral and other communications pieces; and strategic analysis and development of strategic communication programs.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :
Writing, proofreading and editing skills.
Skill to independently gather information through research and interviews as well as the ability to work on multiple projects with competing deadlines, establishing goals and workload priorities with very limited supervision.
Skills to understand and translate complex admission policies and procedures to write clear, accurate and compelling copy in an appropriate form for diverse audiences and publications.
Skill to clearly communicate job and work collaboratively on job specifications/instructions with designers, photographers, printers and other vendors to ensure quality, including reviewing proofs and attending photo shoots and press checks.
Skills to be entrepreneurial and innovative, including initiating story ideas and instituting best practices in communications as well as make independent judgments on newsworthy topics and materials.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications studies or a related discipline as well as a minimum of three years of experience as a communications professional.
Experience in marketing, public relations and/or corporate communications specializing in higher education
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
Skill to read, understand, analyze, interpret, evaluate, and apply federal and state law, as well as university rules, regulations, policies, including campus issues, policies, procedures, and practices in the areas of student programs.
Ability to understand complex UC and campus admissions information and experience in writing about admission policies and procedures to lay audiences.
Knowledge of HTML and Macromedia Dreamweaver to create and edit Web pages, knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Photoshop.
Skills to work effectively under intense deadline pressure, requiring organizational skills, time management efficiency and attention to detail
