Departmental Overview
The Dado and Maria Banatao Center for Global Learning and Outreach from Berkeley Engineering (GLOBE) was founded in 2005 under the vision of Dean Richard A. Newton and College of Engineering long-time friend and benefactors, Dado and Maria Banatao.
Since 2005, GLOBE has helped College of Engineering departments, centers, and units engage with international partners, from the initial engagement with Singapore to establish the Singapore BEARS center to the creation of the Philippine-California Advanced Research Institutes (PCARI) to the Tsinghua-Berkeley Shenzhen Institute (TBSI).
GLOBE has also worked with departments and faculty to establish visiting student and scholar programs with partner institutions with whom faculty have strong relationships, from such institutions as Nanyang Technological University in Singapore to Shanghai Tech University in China to ilina University in the Republic of Slovakia.
GLOBE also supports UC Berkeley students with various outgoing programs, from the ENGIN 187 course, 'Global Engineering: The Challenges of Globalization and Technology Disruption,' to the GLOBE Ambassadors study-travel program, to identification and facilitation of international internship opportunities.
This position is responsible for developing and implementing programs, events, and communication strategies for a range of educational programs in The Dado and Maria Banatao Center for Global Learning and Outreach from Berkeley Engineering (GLOBE) and engaging with diverse audiences including students, alumni, faculty, and government officials. The position will also develop administrative and communication infrastructure for both new and existing partners while assessing processes and tools to improve communication and services. Additionally, the position will work closely with the leadership team to develop research outreach programs, coordinate faculty and graduate student research programs, and launch new programs and special projects.

The position is responsible for developing and implementing program events and communication strategies for the Berkeley Indonesia Visiting Scholar Program (BIVSP). This position will engage and coordinate with Indonesian government officials, funding agencies, partner university faculty, and the faculty in the College of Engineering at UC Berkeley for the visiting scholar selection process and facilitate the onboarding process for the visiting scholars.
In addition to these responsibilities, the position will also play a critical role in the design, development, and delivery of executive programs with both in-person and online modules, attracting executives and professionals from a wide array of sectors and global environments.
The position will also work closely with the Director of International Partnerships and the Director of International Programs in GLOBE to develop and implement new summer and custom programs, provide public relations and marketing support, and coordinate programs related to faculty, visiting faculty, and graduate/undergraduate students, such as workshops, international symposia, and related activities to explore potential collaboration opportunities. This position is also responsible for program logistics, including coordination of location, room reservations, parking, catering, day-of troubleshooting, certificates, and participant assessment.

Establish and implement the interface with foreign academic, corporate, and other institutional visitors for informational sessions about programs inside GLOBE and the College of Engineering and connecting appropriate faculty and staff on campus.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Thorough knowledge of basic concepts, principles, and procedures of building and maintaining effective relations with alumni, internal and key constituencies.
Thorough written, verbal and interpersonal communications, tact and political acumen to effectively represent the campus.
Preferred Qualifications
Thorough research, analytical and critical thinking skills, including sound judgment and decision-making skills and skill to correctly identify real and potential problems, advising management as required, and proposing effective strategic resolutions.
Skill in project management, including event planning and meeting deadlines.
Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $61,600 to $84,600. This is a 100% FTE contract position eligible for benefits.
