The Integrated Designer reports to the Executive Director, Creative Experiences and Digital Engagement and is part of the Advancement Events and Academic Ceremonies team at Northeastern University, a team responsible for supporting the high-level engagement goals of the Office of University Advancement, the Office of the President, and other key partners throughout the University. The Integrated Designer concepts and creates a variety of print and digital design assets that are applied before, during, and after events, such as signage and large-scale graphics, invitations, programs, posters, banners, landing pages, and more. The Integrated Designer works closely with event team leads to support the production of numerous high impact events intended to enhance Northeastern's distinguished reputation and advance the university's highest-level priorities among influential constituents like donors, alumni, and parents.
Under the guidance of the Executive Director, the Integrated Designer oversees the production of creative, innovative, clear and concise print and digital design assets in a timely manner, while staying within project-specific budgets. As a member of the Advancement Events team, the Integrated Designer is responsible for ensuring that the multitude of details and mechanics required to execute high-quality event visuals and materials are flawlessly produced with appropriate branding and compelling messaging.
The Integrated Designer must balance multiple priorities at once, interact directly with key partners, and adapt easily to changing demands in a fast-paced agency-like environment. They are expected to be a dependable, flexible team player, demonstrate a sense of responsibility for the success of their projects, and observe the design and brand standards of the university.
Work on nights and weekends, and the ability to travel both domestically and internationally is required as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in design or a related field.
2-4 years of relevant professional design experience required.
Experience in both print and digital design is required.
Must show a portfolio that demonstrates range, creativity, conceptualization, and strong design skills using color, typography, photography, graphics, and varying layouts.
Pre-press/production experience is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Proficiency with MacOS; Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office software
Strong typography skills.
Knowledgeable in HTML and CSS is preferred.
Experience using Salesforce is a plus.
Ability to create a range of print and interactive projects. Must have design versatility and knowledge in the following: large-scale graphics and signage, direct mail, identity pieces, email blasts, web graphics, social media, event branding materials and visuals, from concept to pre-press and production completion.
Ability to design in a variety of styles, combining and customizing to make them unique for Northeastern.

Dedication to produce quality work, quickly. Juggle various projects and handle tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining attention to detail (confident working under pressure of timelines and responsibility).

Excellent oral and written communication skills a must due to daily interface with clients and supervisors.
Evening and weekend work required as event needs dictate along with occasional travel. This position requires carrying and transporting event supplies up to 50 lbs., and onsite set up and break down.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
Conceptualize and design high-impact print and digital visuals and materials.
Collaborate with and advise key partners on event marketing, design, and communications needs.
Conceptualize, design, and manage visual projects for events which include, but are not limited to: Save the dates, invitations, menu cards, programs, large-scale visual graphics, signs and banners, web content, presentations, and infographics
Adherence to the University's graphic standards and branding, trademark, and licensing guidelines.
Copywriting, editing, proof reading, and typesetting various publications and print pieces as needed.
Project Management, Production Oversight, and Vendor Relations
Manage all internal and external vendors related to design projects, including printers, paper companies, production companies, and other vendors as needed.
Outline project specifications and gather price quotes to get the best product for the price.
Provide clear and regular communication with colleagues and vendors about project priorities, deadlines, revisions status updates, and progress.
Prepare completed projects for print production, review printer's proofs, upload and archive final files.
Manipulate databases for variable print data (envelopes, nametags, place cards, labels, etc.
Ensure production and delivery of deliverables that are on time and on budget.
Events Team Design Resource
Update content, design and photos for Northeastern.edu/events website, Flickr gallery, and social media accounts.
Create PowerPoints and other visual presentations as required.
Collaborate with event leads on event messaging, creative concepts, overall 'look & feel,' and guest experience.
Design, produce, and maintain stock of high-quality suite of ready-to-print pieces that allow for fast turnaround on time sensitive projects.
Maintain technical knowledge by attending design workshops and conferences, reviewing professional publications, and professional organizations.
Event Support & Other Duties as Assigned
Work as an active member of the Events team and Advancement Division, staffing events as required.
Perform non-design related tasks in the office and on-site at events as needed.
