The Rockefeller University seeks a Digital Communications Specialist (Temporary Position (6 months), Salary Range $80K-$90K) to join Communications and Public Affairs. Reporting to the Manager of Digital Strategy, the Digital Communications Specialist will serve as an experienced Communications and Public Affairs team member, performing a wide range of email and web production tasks to support the university. The DCS is a problem solver who is skilled in troubleshooting technical issues and possesses an exceptional ability to multitask. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: assisting with updates on the university's main website and several microsites, both independently and in collaborating with colleagues in CPA and other departments; assisting with the technical management of the external website, identifying bugs and liaising with IT, web developers, and other technical vendors as needed; building, testing, and scheduling/deploying emails for internal and external audiences using MailChimp and Email Marketer; collaborating with members of other university departments by recommending content and page layout for their websites; creating posters and manage content for the digital signage system, troubleshooting technical issues as needed; and additional responsibilities and special projects assigned.
Bachelor's degree required. Preferred concentration in English, communications, graphic design, or digital marketing. Preference for experience working in an academic, scientific, research, non-profit, or other relevant digital communications environment. Three to five years of related work experience is required. Strong skills in HTML and CSS are a must. Professional experience in email marketing and a background in web development, technical project management, or other equivalent experience with technical operations is desired. Proficiency with WordPress and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, are required. Understanding of UX and website best practices is required. Although most work will take place during normal business hours, occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
