Primary duties for the position include proofreading, editing, reviewing and publishing digital content generated by the Provost’s Office. Ability to edit, write and rewrite correspondences for clarity, structure and tone. The ability to apply strong web-based research, writing, editorial skills to the production of a quarterly magazine representing the Division of Academic Affairs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary to achieve the aims of the position and to represent the Division of Academic Affairs in the most positive regard. As a condition of employment, Duquesne University requires all new employees —full-time and part-time, including adjunct faculty—to get a COVID-19 vaccine and provide proof of their vaccination upon commencement of employment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for proofreading, editing, reviewing written content prepared by the Provost’s Office, ensuring brand consistency in language and imagery as appropriate for various audiences. Coordinates the creation of multimodal projects, such as slide presentations, infographics, podcasts, websites, and videos by leveraging internal and external digital media providers. Produces a quarterly newsletter using all of the above skills. The newsletter will include written and visual material and be prepared in approved University interfaces in order to enable analytics. This includes productive collaboration with content providers both internal and external to the organization.
Responsible for production of first-draft, written content to be incorporated in any written correspondences, speeches, or newsletter articles generated on behalf of the Provost’s Office.
Completes other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, or related field from an accredited institution.
1-3 years of progressively responsible experience.
The ideal candidate will have relevant experience (volunteerism included) working in a fast-paced environment and possess expertise in and enthusiasm for communication, grammar, punctuation and syntax. The individual will have experience writing in a variety of rhetorical modes to meet relevant needs.
Preferred qualifications:
Master’s degree in journalism, English, or related field from an accredited institution.
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Highly advanced knowledge of style, grammar usage, punctuation, and proofreading required.
Highly developed oral and written communication skills required. Written skills include expertise in correspondence preparation, digital literacy, and inclusive writing.
Highly develop skill at coordinating the creation of multimodal projects, such as slide presentations, infographics, podcasts, websites, and videos by leveraging internal and external digital media providers.
Highly developed interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated history of working independently on assigned tasks and bring those tasks to completion on time and in a high-level, professional manner.
