The Director of Spirit Programs & Community Outreach will be responsible for oversight and supervision of the Razorback Spirit Squads including Cheerleaders, Pom Squad and Mascots. Have supervision of assistant coaches and serve as the Advisor to the Razorback Booster Club.
This position will coordinate practices, clinics, conduct tryouts, purchase and maintain equipment, uniforms and supplies, manage the budget and monitor the academic progress of squad members. They will be responsible for gameday activities to include assisting the athletics marketing and fan engagement unit as needed with promotions and development of pre-game, halftime and post-game logistics. The Director of Spirit Programs & Community Outreach will be responsible for increasing the team’s visibility and presence on campus and throughout the state of Arkansas by coordinating and scheduling community outreach appearances and planning, organizing Pep Rallies at a variety of campus and athletics events.
This position must demonstrate fiscal responsibility as it relates to coordinating all team travel and overseeing associated fiscal and business operations including processing expense reports and reconciliation of procurement and travel expenses. Plan, organize and execute camps and clinics throughout the year and develop and maintain professional relationships with area high school coaches to recruit potential members to the University.
Must effectively communicate with all team members throughout the season on matters such as performance, academics, personal growth, and various needs that arise as a mentor of a college team.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning
3 years experience in cheerleading, dance or related instruction
USA Cheer Safety and Risk Management Safety Certificate (complete upon 30 days of employment)
Preferred Qualifications:
Former collegiate and/or professional cheerleader or dance team member
NCAA Division I and/or professional sports league cheer, dance, or related instruction experience
Purchasing experience as it relates to spirit uniforms, associated equipment and supplies
Travel experience with teams, booking and paying for travel and food
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing collegiate cheerleading and/or dancing at an institution of higher education with a Division I athletics program or Professional Sports Organization
Knowledge of collegiate cheerleading or dance team skills
Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, public relations, interpersonal, customer service skills
Ability to multi-task and think creatively and strategically
Ability to engage effectively with others of diverse cultures and backgrounds
