This includes the authority and responsibility to manage acute care capital improvement planning, design, and construction projects. Responsibilities The Communications Specialist 3 is the FP&D communications specialist for both internal and external strategic communications. This position will oversee communications for the FP&D Division and will develop a wide variety of communications media including written, visual, digital, electronic, and associated technical applications working closely with UC Davis Health's Public Affairs & Marketing Department. This Communications Specialist position will create and manage a comprehensive long-term and short-term strategic communications plan without precedent and will function with a high degree of autonomy. The position will require exceptional writing and graphic communication skills in addition to strategic communication planning skills. This position will also work with FP&D leadership to build an overall organizational brand and create tools for positioning FP&D strategically with UC Davis Health clients and stakeholders. Duties include FP&D division website content creation and maintenance, strategic communications for FP&D projects and initiatives, FP&D division newsletter creation and maintenance, construction notification management, FP&D project portfolio creation and maintenance, creation of branded communication tools and presentations, attending meetings and documenting project decisions and actions, and other duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, graphic design, and/or architecture, engineering, or construction or equivalent experience.
Experience developing/overseeing strategic communications on behalf of an organization.
Brand management experience with expertise in building and managing an organizational brand.
Experience with website management and content creation.
Experience with producing clear, concise, and professional reports, correspondence, articles, features, and newsletters.
Advanced communication skills to work in a multicultural team in a respectful and professional environment.
Advanced knowledge of organizational communications.
Knowledge of design and communications concepts and applicable software applications including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator), Microsoft Suite; PowerPoint and Word.
Skill and experience using graphic design software such as Adobe in Design, Photoshop or other desktop publishing applications to create brochures, flyers, posters or other materials.
Creative skills and the ability to assess objectives, develop concepts and translate ideas into appropriate graphic solutions.
Demonstrated skills to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
Excellent written and oral communications skills with a proven track record of producing high quality written communications for a variety of audiences.
Interpersonal and communications skills to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
Skills to create websites using enterprise-wide content management system and established templates.
Knowledge of content and site development for web audiences.
Skill in organizing and prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely and efficient manner, particularly when there are changes in workload or assignments due to the pressures of deadlines and heavy workload.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the design and construction industry.
Experience in the evaluation of conditions and can make recommendations to improve, revise, and/or clarify current systems, procedures, and policies etc. to promote increased efficiency in department operations.
Familiarity with California and industry building codes and regulations pertaining to hospitals and healthcare facilities, ADA compliance, fire codes, municipal ordinances, university regulations, policies and procedures.
Knowledge of hospital functions and general policies and procedures.
Knowledge and understanding of University and Campus Policies, procedures, practices and resources to direct project processes and procedures.
