This position strives to support well-being and recreation by enhancing engagement opportunities that support well-being initiatives through a focus on supporting diverse populations and removing barriers to engagement. This dynamic position collaborates with all areas of Well-Being and Recreation together with Health Promotion, Well-being and Fitness, Competitive Sports, Outdoor Pursuits, Recreational facilities including the Aquatic Center, Bird Ice Arena, Ping Center, Golf and Tennis Center, Walter Fieldhouse and all associated programs to create a strategic plan driving communications and direct engagement and inclusion with the department. This position would serve as the primary liaison to Diversity and Inclusion units and facilitate relationships that emphasize inclusion across Well-Being and Recreation.
Engagement: Develop a strategic plan to drive engagement and registration with the Department of Well-Being and Recreation through a creative and innovative marketing plan and associated tactics. Develop initiatives to engage diverse populations and remove barriers to engagement in Well-Being and Recreation's programs, initiatives and facilities. Drive creative campaigns that engage OHIO students, faculty, staff and the Athens Community. Create a cohesive plan that aims to create targeted, unit-wide messaging surrounding personal well-being, inclusion and the OHIO THRiVE Campaign. Ensure that the department is compliant with University brand standards, and creates a cohesive voice to represent the mission and vision of the OHIO Well-Being and Recreation department.
Campus Collaborator: Serve as a primary liaison to both D&I partners and University Departments to facilitate relationships and initiatives that emphasize inclusion across OHIO Well-Being and Recreation programs and facilities. Foster relationships that provide opportunity to engage diverse partnerships, develop program collaborations and create involvement in existing opportunities. Maintain relationships and partner with Division of Student Affairs Communication team and University Communications and Marketing to enhance opportunities for growth and development program promotion. Connect with various stakeholders to develop engaging web content and manage the Department website through Drupal. Campus collaborations include Bobcat Student Orientation, Human Resources, UCM, SACM, and other various constituents.
Inclusion and Teamwork: Recruit, hire, train and supervise student staff and a graduate assistant. Provide leadership and guidance, promoting teamwork, accountability and integrity. Create professional experiences and opportunities for students to directly interact with and produce engagement materials for University and community partners. Guide students to implement the strategic plan for engagement by providing professional experience, knowledge and commitment to ongoing professional development. Advocate for the awareness, understanding and diversity of all people in Well-Being and Recreation facilities, programs, and communications. Create a culture of feedback to improve the team's operations and services. Encourage both employees and users to view themselves as having the potential to make a meaningful impact and contribution to both their campus and the Athens community.
Resource Administration, Management and Stewardship: Develop and maintain the annual operational plan and associated budgets. Oversee all planning and purchasing for engagement materials, as well as staffing budgets. Ensure that all budgets are in compliance with University and Department Guidelines, policies and procedures. Maintain records of engagement tactics, tracking strategy and regular communication engagement through user platforms including Google Analytics, My Emma, Social Media engagement and program registrations. Monitor regular expense budgets pertaining to individual area and monitor opportunities for growth and change.
Student Affairs: Actively contributes as a staff member of the Division of Student Affairs that upholds the framework of equity and social justice and the personal well-being of the university community. Provides leadership, promotes collaboration and facilitates effective communication across all department, divisional, university and community partners. Maintains current knowledge of the University, its environment, purpose, and affairs to be prepared to respond to appropriate issues. Actively participates in professional development opportunities and maintains knowledge of current trends and best practices within area of responsibility. Advocates and promotes diversity and inclusivity through roles and responsibilities in support of the department, division, and university initiatives. Infuses socially just practices into the work, making sure programming and trainings are inclusive and accessible to all students. Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Advertising or Business Management (Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
