The social media coordinator assists with planning, implementing, monitoring and measuring the success of Washington University Physicians (WUP) digital communications strategy. The goal is to increase brand awareness, build audience and drive engagement across internal and external department channels.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Provide tactical support for overall digital communications efforts, including daily maintenance and advertising of WUP and some department social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube), and physicians.wustl.edu, public-facing web site for the clinical practice. This includes writing content, procuring photo or video and other creative approaches, and measuring/reporting success. Â
Assist with internal department communications, including quarterly consumer newsletter; writing announcements and provider/staff features.
Help plan and contribute to the execution of social media campaigns in support of overall strategic goals.
Provide support for events, opportunities and campaigns that aim to drive engagement and increase our audience on social media channels. Assist with coordination of production for Facebook Live and other remote opportunities.
Monitor WUP, hospital and department social media channels for issues and trends, listening particularly for opportunities to proactively engage with our audiences.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelorâ™s degree in English, Journalism, Communications or Marketing, with two to three yearsâ™ experience working in digital communications.
Candidate should be comfortable with technology, including the use of social media publishing and measurement software and other tools to ensure efficient workflow.
Working knowledge of Google-based communications tools, WordPress and Adobe products.
Extensive familiarity with social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, blogs) and emerging technologies.
Ability to craft a captivating story on social media with a combination graphics, captions and platform-specific tools.
Ability to write a compelling story â“ excellent writing skills and grammar.
Knowledge of Internet culture and etiquette.
Ability to prioritize, organize and communicate effectively.
Expert attention to detail and accuracy.
Proven ability to foster productive working relationships with diverse audience.
Curious, analytical, technologically savvy.
Ability to work independently and take initiative to move along projects.
Ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines.
Ability to exercise discretion and maintain absolute confidentiality.
A Bachelors degree in English, Journalism, Communications or Marketing, with a mastery of writing for the web.
Extensive familiarity with social networks (Facebook, Twitter, blogs, YouTube) and emerging technologies (including mobile), Internet culture and etiquette.
At least two years of experience with the development, editing and optimization of content for digital communications, preferably within the health or higher education industries.
$43,400.00 - $71,700.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
