The Director of Sales and Engagement's primary responsibility will be to explore and create new alliances and partnerships to expand the Forum services and brand.
Assess new products and services and the viability of staff to create and maintain new products.
Oversee negotiations, benefits, and processes.
Engage with organizations in sponsorships, trades, in kind, exhibitors, advertisers.
Engage in registration sales for individuals and groups.
Create and maintain overall sales strategy including pricing models.
Explore and expand general audience engagement through Linkedin and other social media platforms.
Research membership versus subscription options, and make recommendations to the brand with regard to these options.
Sense and test opportunities for and assist in the development of new products and services through surveys, conversations, and other means.
As part of the overall engagement strategy, oversee communications, marketing, and public relations.
Supervise the Forum Marketing and Engagement Manager
Explore and create new alliance, investor, and partner relationships to expand forum services and brand (20%)
Seek out potential organizations interested in developing alliances, partnerships, or investor relationships to further the work of The Forum-including opportunities outside the United States.
Promote and expand The Forum's position as a key resource for global DEI work.
With the assistance of the executive director and other staff members, negotiate the terms of alliances, investments, and partnerships.
Working in conjunction with Forum staff to determine the range and scope of an alliance, investor, and partnership components, the feasibility of follow through and success, and evaluate the progress of the relationship, course correcting as needed to maintain cooperation and a successful outcome.
Working with Forum staff to shepherd the creation of new programming, services, or other outputs that advance the success of the alliances, investments, and partnerships.
Working with the executive director to initiate and lead strategic visioning around joint Augsburg and Forum branded programming that meets the mutual strategic needs of each organization, including but not limited to engagement with other higher education institutions and associations.
Sponsorship, registration, exhibitor, and other sales (30%)
Working with Forum staff to create sponsor, registration, exhibitor, and advertising pricing, packages, and prospectus.
Seek out potential organizations interested in sponsorship, registration (individual and group), exhibitor, advertising, or other sales opportunities.
Seek out trades and in-kind alliances.
Contact new and previous participants to discuss the conference and year-round participation.
Create and deliver proposal packages to potential Forum participant organizations designed to meet their needs, maximize Forum revenue, and expand relationships.
Conduct negotiations (examples: level of sponsorship and benefits), execute contracts, and with the assistance of the Marketing and Engagement Manager oversee benefit delivery and process.
Create and maintain a comprehensive sales strategy in coordination with Forum staff and consultants to develop and optimize the sales effort.
Identify prospective participants in Forum year-round offerings which include new and previous participants.
Research Forum database to find leads and trends for increased engagement.
Maintain contact lists and follow up with Forum community members to build and strengthen relationships.
Send Forum Registrar updated constituent information.
Educate potential participants about Forum year-round offering
Work with the Marketing and Engagement Manager to increase communication and impact with potential participants (email, social media, etc.).
Run Forum LinkedIn presence, which includes Forum LinkedIn Group.
Develop and execute Forum LinkedIn Group Livestream programming; examples include Forum Fridays, sponsor spotlights, book readings, round tables, etc.
In coordination with the Forum executive director and the Augsburg marketing department, oversee communications, marketing, and public relations (10%)
Oversee the strategic direction of communications, marketing, and public relations as they relate to overall engagement
Establish and maintain the Forum's organizational brand guidelines internally and externally; manage the annual theme year brand creation process.
Working with Forum Marketing and Engagement Manager, develop strategies. objectives, and key marketing/communications and public relations messages that align with and promote The Forum's conferences and other offerings throughout the year, both internal and external to the University and with a global presence.
Oversee website accessibility and monthly and yearly analytics reporting.
Working with Forum Marketing and Engagement Manager, oversee the content of all collateral.
Working with Forum Marketing and Engagement Manager, overseeing all external marketing contracts and internal marketing/communications relationships.
Research and Trends (10%)
Research and advise on the creation of a subscription vs. membership model.
Research and advise on the development and methodology of creating a video and/or general resource library.
Research and advise on the potential for expanded use of CVENT Attendee Hub.
Conduct sensing, testing, and evaluating of potential products and services and the appropriate platform for execution (LinkedIn vs. Attendee Hub, etc.).
Conduct sensing, testing, and evaluating of potential and current product pricing.
Other Duties 10%
Track budget revenue expectations, projections, and goals; review with the executive director and director of finance and operations.
Provide regular communication updates with the executive director and director of finance and operations on project status and sales.
Assist in the formation of a Strategic Advisory/Stakeholder group.
Assist in the formation of a Global Advisory Committee.
Work with Forum Registrar on database segmentation to maximize sales and marketing opportunities.
Track all sales activities in the Forum CRM system and keep current by updating constituent information regularly.

A typical work environment is an office, working at a desk for long periods of time.
Regular computer and phone use.
This position offers the opportunity for remote work. Though this position is remote-friendly, Augsburg's policy requires that you have residency in Minnesota, California, Florida, New York, Tennessee, or Wisconsin on or before the first day of work. Once hired, Augsburg will not pay for your expenses to travel to Minnesota should your presence be needed.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent is required.
10 years minimum of relevant experience in sales, communications, engagement, or strategy required.
Prefer experience in conference or event and/or non-profit marketing.
Prefer experience in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, either in a sales/communications/engagement/strategy or practitioner function.
Knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and issues.
Standard practices for developing and delivering presentations.
Knowledge of sales/communications/engagement/strategy principles.
Google and Microsoft Office proficiency expected (Gmail, Docs, Slides, Sheets; Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
