Reporting directly to and working with the Director of Athletics, the Director of Athletic Communications will lead and direct all aspects of the Athletic Communications office and implement a comprehensive athletics communication plan to enhance the Bluejay Athletics brand exposure. This position provides timely, accurate information to meet the needs of Bluejay fans, build campus and community interest, and tell the EU athletics story. This position will serve as the official source of communications for the Elmhurst University Athletics Department.
Responsible for all communications for the Department of Athletics including, but not limited to social media, local and national media, and campus communications.
Establish and maintain a positive and consistent working relationship with local media and University Communications to maximize exposure for varsity teams, student-athletes and EU Athletics while serving as the department’s official media contact.
Responsible for maintenance of Elmhurst University Athletics website.
Oversee all athletics statistical compilation and reporting all scores and statistics to the Conference Office and the NCAA.
Produce gameday programs and information guides for applicable home athletic contests. Produce game recaps, news releases, videos, and other related content for all NCAA DIII varsity athletic programs.
Supervise, develop, and train the Athletic Communication Graduate Assistant.
Maintain positive public relations with the community through assorted, visible, acts of volunteerism.
Manage nominations for student-athlete of the week recognition and conference, regional, and national end of the year awards.
Coordinate photography and video content for EU Athletics and solicit freelance or independent contractor coverage when necessary.
Design and produce printed, and online promotional and recruiting materials that are aligned with EU Athletics and Elmhurst University Marketing and Communications department design standards.
Travel with athletics teams on an occasional basis, with an emphasis on travelling to postseason contests.
Manage the operations budget for the Athletic Communications office.
Serve as a member on the Blue and White Club Hall of Fame Committee and support the Blue and White Club through digital media, publications, and assistance with quarterly newsletter..
Attend and participate in all athletic staff meetings as determined by the Director of Athletics.
Endorse and support other areas within the Division of Student Affairs staff including attendance of meetings and service on committees.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and/or the Vice President of Student Affairs.
Bachelor’s Degree and writing experience required.
Prior successful athletic communication experience.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, initiative and motivation.
Knowledge of NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletics and statistics keeping.
Ability to edit and proofread accurately and consistently.
Photography skills strongly preferred.
Must have strong work ethic and be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, and evenings.
Must be proficient with computer word processing skills and must be able to learn computer statistics programs.
