The Ledges is seeking a highly motivated, energetic team leader to fill the position of the Golf Course Superintendent. The Superintendent is responsible for the daily operation of The Ledges Agronomy Department and will work closely with the Director of Agronomy on all phases of the golf course maintenance, capital improvement projects, and management of department personnel to ensure that the expectation of operational excellence is met.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyze and evaluate the daily maintenance operation to ensure program effectiveness
Assign and develop work-efficient schedules to meet staffing needs of the operation
Application of chemicals in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
Oversee employees in proper and safe operation and maintenance of equipment
Inspect the golf course and related facilities to evaluate how effectively standards are being achieved
Water management of greens, tees, and fairways
Course setup for member playability
Evaluation of turf for wear, disease, moisture, cut quality, growth rate, etc.
Operate the course in a fiscally responsible and professional manner
Recruit, hire and retain staff to provide superior level of member service
Provide technical, operational and safety training for employees
Communicate effectively with management, staff, and members
Conduct oneself in a professional manner and always maintain a professional image
Maintain records and complete required reporting
Ensure all company policies, standards of operations, manuals, standards of conduct, and safety rules are strictly followed by all staff, members, and guests
Conduct performance evaluations of staff in a timely basis
Provide appropriate feedback and recommendations of staff to Management regarding compensation, advancement, and training needs
Determine appropriate personnel action in the event of performance, attendance problems or violations of company policies
Ensure that all direct reports adhere to The Ledges standards regarding dress code
Knowledge of management and maintenance of greens, fairways, roughs, and bunkers
Knowledge of use and operating standards of equipment and tools used in golf course maintenance
Skill in supervising, training, monitoring, evaluating, and motivating personnel
Interpersonal skills to resolve conflict
Knowledge of safe use, mixing, and application of chemicals and commercial products
Knowledge of the game of golf, golf rules, and methods of play
Knowledge of irrigation systems and water usage
Ability to anticipate personnel, equipment, and material requirements related to golf course maintenance and repair assignments
Ability to work well under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks, and maintain a high level of attention to detail
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
3-5 years’ experience as a Golf Superintendent or 1st Assistant
Minimum 2-year Degree or Certificate in Turf Management or related field
Computer skills required, including use of Microsoft Office Suite
Valid Driver's License
Pesticide Application License - Required
Class A Certification by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America -Preferred

He was also chosen as the recipient of the 2013 Old Tom Morris Award by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.
Bent grass greens, Zoysia fairways and Bermuda rough make up the landscape of the course. Designed with 5 different tee sets, sculpted greens and fairways and challenging bunkers, the course offers golfers of all skill levels an outstanding golf experience.
The USGA rates the course for a scratch player at 74.9 and handicaps are adjusted via a slope rating of 137 which nears the top of the max 155 value.
