The Multimedia and Event Manager is an administrative, technical position responsible for all lighting, sound, and electrical systems operations, set-up, and maintenance of technical equipment within the Morris University Center (MUC), the Student Success Center (SSC), and other areas reserved by Event Services. This position provides technical advice in the planning/corrdination of events in the Meridian Ballroom, Goshen Lounge, Conference Center and all other event spaces. The Multimedia and Event Manager meets with clients to schedule reservations within EMS and works to confirm and coordinate events and spaces. The selected candidate will responsible for the supervision and work performance involved in the preparation, maintenance, operation, and repair of all equipment and materials used for meetings, concerts, stage productions, and all other special events. This position will also problem-solve and provide event and technical expertise for the Morris University Center and Student Success Center in general.
Additionally, the Multimedia and Event Manager will assist in hiring, training, supervising, and assessing the student workers for all of Guest Relations, including Production, Tech Services, Student Building Managers, and Event Services student workers. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs and goals of the department.
Routine hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. However, due to the professional needs of this role, these hours will vary weekly, and may include frequent evening and weekend shifts, based on the schedule of events. 1. Any one or any combination of the following, totaling one (1) year (12 months), from the categories below: (a) Training in technical school for electronics, armed services electronics training school, factory electronics and/or mechanical service school. (b) College courses relating to the operation and use of instructional communications equipment or a closely related field. - 30 semester hours equals 6 months - 60 semester hours equals 12 months (c) Work experience in the operation and maintenance of instructional communications equipment.
2. One (1) year (12 months) of work experience comparable to that of a Multimedia Operator.*
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: -Knowledge of cinema, photo, audio, video and related processes and techniques and equipment; cross-platform multimedia technologies and their application as well as media formats and their application; types of audio-visual, computer projections and video equipment and accessories; instructional patterns of audiovisual practices and equipment utilization practices in higher education; and stage lighting control, dimming and circuitry.
-Skill in the operation and maintenance of instructional communications equipment; and in assembling and operating technical equipment for amplification, recording and mixing sound.
-Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; organize and prioritize department preventative maintenance program and repair; produce, distribute and assimilate cross-platform instructional multimedia materials; and to evaluate specifications of similar equipment to recommend the best product.
