The University of Maryland, Baltimore Communications and Public Affairs department is seeking to expand its Video Production team with a Lead Videographer & Producer. This position will lead the creation, design, production, and implementation of videos, social marketing and motion graphics, while protecting the integrity of the University's brand to ensure consistency in look and feel across all internal and external communications. The Lead Videographer & Producer will shoot and edit video, demonstrating skill in directing subjects and eliciting great interviews. This position will accomplish the bulk of the technical tasks related to production and post-production. The Lead Videographer & Producer will transport, set up, and operate equipment; and script, stage, set preparation and dressing. The ideal candidate is visually creative and technically proficient.

Essential Job Functions:
Integrates video and audio skills to lead development of presentations that represent the University's innovations, culture, and community engagement
Transports, sets up, and operates various production equipment including cameras, audio and video recorders, lighting equipment, props, and microphones for location and studio production
Leads operation and maintenance of proper levels and calibration of a wide range of cameras, audio and video recorders, and other production equipment
Leads collection of b-roll footage of campus as well as interviews
Primarily edits footage and stays up-to-date with new technological advances
Leads and supports the team throughout the production process, which may include finding interview subjects, creating graphics, and presenting to client and other constituents
Sets up lighting, whether in a studio or on location
Builds creative briefs, video outlines, scripts, and other necessary pre-production documents, working with brand and brand guidelines
Helps to sustain and guide creative process
Assesses the needs of a project and determine what blend of assets to use, from video to motion graphics, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned
Education: Bachelor's degree.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience in the field with experience in scripting, shooting, editing, motion graphics and final delivery.
Preferred Experience: Experience with nonlinear editing software experience, such as Final Cut Pro. Experience with motion graphics and animation, sound editing tools including Adobe Audition and Sound Forge, and color correcting and enhancing images and video.
Other: Related experience may be substituted for education.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Proficient knowledge of execution of cutting-edge design in video (scripting, execution, production, post-production, etc.) and social media (all social channels, content development, graphics, etc.) mediums. Possesses excellent concept, creative strategy, design, layout, color, composition, brand, typography, and communication skills. Knowledgeable in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop, and manipulating vector graphics and layers for use in motion graphics; best export/encoding practices for delivery across a wide range of channels including YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, Stream, etc. Ability to create compelling and appealing visual communications that meet specific goals and provide measurable results. Demonstrated knowledge of video production from camera operation to editing and post production. Ability to maintain personable, excellent communication skills and professional attitude. Strong time management and multitasking skills with ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Ability to create and maintain good working relationships with 3rd party vendors (printers, agencies etc.). Must also have creativity and imagination while being adaptable and able to pick up new techniques. Ability to write effective narrative and compelling scripts.

Hiring Range: High $60,000s to low $80,000s; commensurate with education and experience.
