Department Specific Responsibilities
Focuses on Guided Pathways Academy Students and other student populations.
Helps with recruitment and serves as the advisor for students admitted into the GPA program. Maintains information on the program to assist students, faculty, staff, and academic advisors with questions regarding the program. Works with the Director of the GPA program on student success, persistence, and retention.
Provides success coaching for a caseload of approximately 300 students. Maintains information about majors and minors, certificate programs, general education, programs within Academic and Student Affairs, student support services both on and off campus to help students. Helps with student registration.
Provides coaching, proactive, and developmental guidance to assist students with their transition to college and identifying interests and abilities. This work entails, but is not limited to, developing a coherent program that includes best practices, such as learning communities, cohort-based class scheduling, connections to campus tutoring, career services, and engagement in other high interest practices.
Regularly meets with students during semester to develop medium and long-range academic goals, and to review grades and the student engagement reports. Assists students in developing strategies to promote academic persistence. Assists students to develop career goals.
Tracks and supports student progress from first time enrollment through graduation. Maintains records on student progress, persistence, retention, and graduation.
Effectively uses university advising and retention tools and systems including notes on AdRx, appointments on Scheduler, creates and administers surveys, and student engagement and retention campaigns.
Contributes to designing and implementing programs to foster student success and retention.
Manages, seeks, and updates community resources partners for access that address student vulnerabilities. Works with campus and community partners for leads. Connects and engages community services for emergency resources for students.
Frequently interfaces directly with students and collaborates with staff in own department, faculty and staff across campus, and community partners on shared student support goals.
Assists the center Director and/or campus/community partners to prepare reports for stakeholders. Assists the Director to collect and maintain student data.
Communicates outcomes at staff meetings and monthly communications to community partners.

Develops and implements programs and initiatives that offer support for students in crisis, facing adversity or challenges, or who belong to an under-represented or minority student population.
Interfaces directly with students by attending student programming events, advising student organization leaders, meeting one-on-one to discuss support needs, and gathering satisfaction feedback from student participants to implement into future student services initiatives and objectives. Places an emphasis on confidentiality of student concerns, university policy compliance, and a culture of care within all direct student interactions.
Collaborates with staff in own department and other departments, as well as academic and campus leaders, on shared student support goals, often coordinating funding to sponsor student programs and initiatives.
Projects outcomes for support services offered at the program, department/division, or campus level. Measures and evaluates effectiveness of student support initiatives against projected outcomes; regularly prepares reports on impact to students and budget and may present to stakeholders on effectiveness and to secure funding for initiatives moving forward.
Serves on committees and performs student support research across the field of higher education and at peer institutions to identify and recommend best practices.
Plans and coordinates communications for student support initiatives to ensure student participation, inclusion, and engagement.
May provide guidance to other student support staff; makes process recommendations to manager for improved delivery of service.
Bachelor's degree in education, public affairs, public health, counseling, social work, business, or related field
Master's degree in higher education student affairs or related field
2 years in student services, higher education, social work, counseling, law, or related field

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
