Khoury College for Computer Sciences is looking for a communications
specialist. The communications specialist will be a member of the marketing and communications team and will work closely with the content team to develop a communication strategy and deliver relevant content to the Khoury community.
The Comms. Specialist will be instrumental in delivering the college's key messages across all audiences with a focus on elevating the college's research and showcasing the Khoury student experience and outcomes across all network locations.
The Comms Specialist will be an excellent and prolific writer with an ability to write across multiple platforms and audiences. The Comms Specialist will oversee all Khoury Newsletters including the News from the Dean for internal audiences, the Khoury News for external audiences and the Alumni newsletter. The Comms specialist will manage, assign, and edit incoming news stories as well as develop stories to ensure that we are able to tell both the full student experience and the Khoury research story sufficiently.
This position will ensure that all internal-facing messaging is clear and informative and work to distribute it across both internal and external channels as appropriate. They will additionally support broad-based school communications strategies as they evolve including brand materials, dynamic web content, and other publications as needed.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or a related field and two to five years of related work experience. Previous experience in higher education is a plus. They will have professional experience with e-newsletter creation, dissemination, and data tracking, as well as strong writing, editing, English grammar, and proofreading skills.
The ideal candidate will have an appreciation and understanding that internal communications is evolving, and they are driven to stay abreast of the latest trends and best practices. Technical savvy and experience with web content management systems are required. They will be a quick learner, fast writer, and a team player with excellent attention to detail. Being highly organized is also necessary to manage a diverse array of projects at any given time. They will follow through on tasks and instructions with minimal management and will take responsibility for their work. A positive attitude and sense of humor is essential. Experience with Mailchimp (or other e-newsletter tools), Sprout (or other social management tools), WordPress, and Microsoft 365 products is preferred.
