NYU Dentistry’s Office of Development & Alumni Relations is dedicated to engaging alumni, faculty, friends, corporations and foundations to further the mission of the College and best serve our students, patients and community. We play a duel role to both enhance alumni engagement and to solicit the private funding necessary to support the strategic goals of the College in teaching, learning, clinical care and research. Our staff works to discover, motivate, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni, parents, faculty, and friends for immediate, long-range, and future financial support, for critical operations such as student aid, faculty support, academic and research program development, and facilities and infrastructure.
As part of the development fundraising team this position will support the implementation of effective strategies to build and manage discovery and prospect pools, prioritize approaches, steward prospects and to help identify and execute engagement opportunities through our alumni relations efforts. Responsibilities will include collaborating and coordinating with the Prospect Development and Management teams to identify prospective donors and drive the implementation of donor strategies set by the department’s leadership. The development associate will ensure proper acknowledgement for gifts and pledges related to the College’s donors and provide follow-up correspondence and communication with prospects and donors, as appropriate.
Required Education: Bachelor's degree and
Required Experience: 2 years' experience with public relations, fundraising, nonprofit management, corporate marketing, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Experience: Experience in an academic/nonprofit environment and/or experience with fundraising and donor relations.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work in a fast paced environment. Ability to professionally interact with all levels of students, staff, faculty and outside groups. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software. Familiarity with presentation software and desktop publishing applications. Strong analytical and project management skills.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Proficiency with MS Office, Access and Powerpoint. Familiarity with specialized fundraising databases (Ellucian Advance, Blackbaud CRM, Salesforce, etc.)
