Manage the public relations and publicity for the university's athletic program including production, media and community relations, event management, and historical, statistical, and photographical record-keeping.
Write, edit, and design media guides, game programs, feature stories, and news releases for the university's sports programs.
Establish and maintain relationships with local, state, and national media representatives; serve as a liaison between university coaches, student-athletes and the media by coordinating interview requests, setting up press conferences, and media days.
Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of student assistants and interns.
Provide event media management including direct supervision of statistical personnel, public address announcers, and sports information photographers.
Coordinate statistical services and proper distribution of results for home athletic events; travel with assigned sport(s) team(s) to provide coverage of events and assistance with media operations.
Communicate with NCAA and conference officials and sports information representatives from opposing schools.
Respond to inquiries and requests for information from fans, students, alumni, and the general public regarding the university, our sports programs, student-athletes, and coaches.
Promote athletes for conference, regional, and national awards and honors.
Maintain and update season statistics, maintain historical records and archives for assigned sports.
Maintain current and historical sports files; includes securing photography of current student-athletes, coaches, and events for specific sports programs. Oversee the maintenance of the University of Houston Athletics website. May provide leadership in the absence of the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Information. Perform other job related duties as required.

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly related job experience.
